Some tidbits from the Passim show about the Dow song: - -- The official title is "Dow Re Mi". - -- Susan has changed two lines, so those of you keeping track of lyrics (Sherlyn ;), please take note: The two changed lines are now: "Wiltshire samples all the stocks that be" and, after "Crash, we all jump off a cliff" "And that will bring us all back down" I think the fixes greatly improve the song -- both lines used to sit a bit wrong with me for some reason, but now it's perfect. It's been going through my head all day, too ... argh! +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Oct 1999 18:11:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Devon McClurken Subject: Re: the dow song info i just recently heard susan for the first time a couple weeks ago when she was back in iowa.. ( she grew up 10 minutes from where i used to live just thought i would share that) and she sang this song... i actually heard it twice because i found her to be so good and amazing that i had to stay for the second show, but anyway i was wondering how did the song go before? i have only heard it this way, and i must add it had me rolling on the floor.. she is so animated when she sings anyway thanks! Now it's starting to come clear that Susan is trying to teach us about the stock market, much as Anna Kournikova is trying to do in her Charles Schwab commerical, "PE ratio is price over earnings....meed cap, small cap, index fund.... Ron corrected: >I think it's "Wilshire," a reference to the Wilshire 5000 index. Aha. In case you can't tell, I'd never heard of it before this song. :} >Now it's >starting to come clear that Susan is trying to teach us about the stock >market, much as Anna Kournikova is trying to do in her Charles Schwab >commerical, Um yeah, I thought it was abundantly clear that that was the point of the whole song. :) Devon wondered: >i was wondering how did the song go before? I think the original lines were: "Wilshire samples all the NYSE" and "And that will bring us back to Dow". That's where I heard of it.
