Thanks for all the analyses of my county fair dream; they were all interesting in their own special way! (I knew that if I shared the dream with the people on this list, I would get a response; we Believers are folks who like to think deeply and share ideas.) If Jane is reading this--tell Susan that our Hamilton County Fair is always the last weekend in September, if she's ever interested. . .(LOL!) Let's enjoy these coffee houses, bookstores, and house concerts while they last and save those tapes. One singer, songwriter used to draw 10-12 of us fans at a house concert and now an 'intimate, friends only' show is no less than 300. Ohh, and get those pins. Last night, I was at a small Comedy Club and the comedian, somebody Shackleford from Baltimore, talked about playing in Hampton/Newport News recently and staying at the Thrift Inn. Don't stay there, he did a 5 minute ditty about being on the road and staying in places like that. Stay at the Colonial Williamsburg Inn, just a few minutes up the road and way upscale. Best Olde Virginia food there is. Very fun times in Colonial Williamsburg (CW) but watch for an olde character named something like Vanderpool. He is/was the Official Musician for CW and he enjoyed showing up at the small clubs and verbally (but for fun) abusing the semi-pro bands. The band would finally get fed up with him and say something like ".. well if you think you can do any better old man come on up..." You can guess what happened next. And, his specialty is bawdy songs, he can take them beyond bawdy. If he targets your date/wife , there is no defense just laugh and enjoy. He worked Chownings Tavern/Ordinary alot and has about six kids who would be thirty somethings now. Really fine folks and well connected in CW.
