["Suzanne THIEL" ] Three questions (well, two and a comment, really) [SnarkiFru Subject: Susan "Replaced"? Two things along the lines of being replaced: In case ya didn't know, Susan does a cover of Christine Lavin's song "Replaced" on one of the two 'Big League Babe' CL tribute CD's which is, naturally, wonderful. I love what she says about CL's chord progressions in this songs - something like 'they've been banned in certain parts of Iowa'... Secondly - I've been a major Believer since March '95. But I had my first 'live' experience with a woman named Connie Kaldor this weekend and all I can say is CHECK HER OUT, especially if she's appearing in your area - like Susan, her CD's don't do her justice. An accomplished Canadian actress/singer/songwriter, she really loves the skin she's living in. Like Susan, she throws her whole body into her performance - hands, legs, arms, hair, and oh, yes, the amazingly expressive face. A voice as wide and as wonderful as the Saskatchewan prairie from which she hails (a la kd lang - what is it about that western Canadian air? or the Iowan air, for that matter?). Between the amazing voice and the caustically funny, mile-a-minute between-song patter (two and-a-half hours worth!!!) and the gracious, approachable presence afterwards for chatting and autographs I was in heaven. We were the only 'Americans' in attendance (concert was in Goderich, Ontario) and THAT was a big deal, too. In a local music store before the show I was begging for the CK poster from the window and the young man said 'Oh, are YOU the ones from Michigan?' - word travels fast in a small town! And to top it off, I get to see Susan next weekend in Ann Arbor. Life doesn't get much better than this. Okay, so she hasn't been REPLACED - never - just joined by another gotta-see performer. I know this is a Susan Werner discussion board, but I firmly believe in the importance of supporting live acoustic music no matter the artist, so I hope you'll forgive me my momentary lapse in all things Susan, and I promise to post an all-Susan review next week. It's at http://www.voicenet.com/~charlies/swmail.htm This is the site of the original e-mail list homepage. Not to the best of my knowledge, but if I ever can corral Susan for a few hours, I'd like to get something like that started. Have to wait 'til after my son's football season, tho. So, ask away, and if anyone has any tabs, we can start the compilation process earlier than Thanksgiving :-) Charlie Sweeney (=}===# Virtual Guitarist-Something Black http://somethingblack.com http://susanwerner.com http://karensavoca.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V3 #202 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
