I'm new to this discussion board, so please be nice to me (for a while, anyway). I am not new to my love for Susan Werner, however. I've been a total convert since sometime early '94, when visiting my local (folk-oriented) music store. They're always playing great music loudly in the CD showroom. I was browsing on my lunch hour, could hear this pleasant music playing but didn't pay much attention, but gradually it started creeping into my consciousness. Then I started really listening. When I heard the words 'have you ever read someone's words like water in the desert' I was transfixed, and stood there like an idiot until the CD was over. Then walked over to the counter in a daze and said 'I must have this music' and the rest is history. Luckily I don't live too far from the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI, so am able to see Susan fairly often. Her CD's are a poor substitute for her amazing live performances, as you all know. There's a website (sorry, I'm not sure which/where) that has many concert photos posted so I go there once in a while just to enjoy her facial expressions until the next concert! When I heard 'Sorry about Jesus' on CD for the first time, I could close my eyes and just see her face when she sang 'weird in school' - and sure enough, when I saw/heard it live for the first time, she scrunched up her face on 'weird' just like I knew she would! She's coming here on 9/26, so I don't have long to wait for my next fix. I'm full of questions and comments!! But I'll hold off until I get a feel for this board. Thanks for listening. And thanks to Steve for enlightening me, electronically! Suzie T. I'm ashamed to have to admit this here. A while back I heard a song on a local radio show called 'When There's no One Around' by Darrell Scott, was blown away, went out, bought the CD (called 'Family Tree') and just love it. Imagine my embarrassment to JUST NOW realize that he produced and performed on Time Between Trains. Duh. Well, better late than never. Check out his CD, it's great - the title track will make you smile. Guess now I'd better re-read HIS liner notes - Susan's not in there anywhere is she?
