Like you, I saw Susan at Riverbend (in '95, '96, and this year). I hope she continues to come back every few years, to pay tribute to the town that "broke her heart" (for those of you who don't know the story behind "Man I Used to Love," Susan claims she fell in love with this guy while here in our city). Riverbend Festival has 5 stages and goes on for 8 nights; the stage where Susan usually performs is under a bridge in a cool, serene amphitheatre--perfect for folk musicians. (The only time she played on the "main" stage was when she opened for Mary-Chapin Carpenter in '95, the first time I saw her and got hooked!) Are there any more of us out there? Lee, any more comments? Waiting. . . Southern Believer _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? But I did discover Susan at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville in May, 1994, and she dubbed me her First Nashville Fan. I was in Chatanooga on the same trip, and I'd be happy to be an honorary Southern Believer. Unfortunately along with the heat (brutal), the wind and boat noises distracted from what could have been great sound. But as usual Susan put on a great show for those attending. Yes To You (Tappan Zee), Last of the Good Straight Girls, Gotta See The Body, The Year of The Bad President, Bring Round The Boat, Time Between Trains, Gypsy Lips and Your Vagabond Mouth, Like Bonsai, Movie of My Life, Standing In My Own Way, Born Too Late However "Gypsy Lips..." is only my "best guess" at the title since it is a new song. Susan and her road manager Jane have told me previously that Susan often does not title songs until recorded or uses working titles or short set list names for Jane's tuning purposes. For instance the song "In Brazil I Had No Shadow" (in one reference from Susan after a show) has appeared on the set list notes as "Shadow" but more frequently simply as "Brazil". So- "Only the Shadow knows for sure!" ;-) Dave PS- Keith- I'll be in touch! (although we in Texas might consider ourselves a "whole 'nuther group"... ) and a fellow Believer I know says she lives in "L.A.".... that's "Lower Alabama" to y'all... Although, for the extreme in "Southern," I'd have to name our friendly listmates in Aussieland, or perhaps the occasional scientist listening to Susan while doing polar research in Antarctica...
