Was it Sherlyn who started off the mayhem with a suggestion of Susan recording "I Still Believe (Mean Streets Mix)"? Charlie Sweeney then posted a hilarious listing of ten possible "I Still Believe" variations, which made me laugh until I cried. I accidentally discarded my copy of Charlie's posting recently, and want to send it to a friend of mine who is a new Susan convert -- does anyone still have a copy that can be forwarded to the list? Of course, you can send it to me privately, but it was so good it deserves a repost for some of the newer Believers. I knew there was gonna be a problem when Bottom Line Records chose to let James Hetfeild and Puff Daddy coproduce the album. So here are the tracks. 1)(You oughta know I ) still believe - co-written by Glen Ballard 2)STILLBELIEVESTILLBELIEVESTILLBELIEVE-a concept piece originated when Hetfeild inadvertently switched on his Marshall stack while his ax was propped against the front and the volume was set to 14. The resultant sound pressure, estimated at "lebenty gazillion decibels, at least" by one technical source, fused every switch in the circuit all the way back to the generation station and levelled a large part of Nashville. Power had to be cut at the source. They blamed it on a tornado. Vocals by Marilyn Manson. The title is the lyric. Only much, much louder. 3)(Close to)still believe(ing you)- a tribute to the late great Karen Carpenter 4)(Closer to)still believe(ing you)-Amy and Emily on background vocals 5)Still believe (techno)- no human beings were involved in the production at all. 6)Still believe (retro) in what can only be described as a fatal collision between the '70s and '90s this track contains a 17 minute drum *machine* solo 7)Skill retrieve-After the sonic accident, and the implantation of prosthetic Kevlar eardrums, Hetfeild bravely returned to the studio to record his take on this wonderful song. The Kevlar eardrums are beta versions. 8)Skill retrieve II -Wierd Al Yankovic making fun of Hetfeild trying to sing with his new eardrums. 9)Believers breakdown-a Nashville tribute to the song includes the talents of Allison Krause, Darrell Scott, Buck Owens, Roy Clark, Bela Fleck, Futureman, and Chet Atkins. If you listen closely, you can hear Puffy in the control room wailing on Weird Al for "dissin' his homey". 10) (I) Still Believe (I'm gonna pop a cap in yo punk ass) Puffy moves to the fore. Bonus track- Three unreleased recordings of Crosby Still, Nash and Young fighting in the dressing room of the Fillmore East. Two contest points for namimg the source of the bonus track ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Those who were concerned for my sanity at the time will note that I have a letter from Dr. Nic Riviera that I am possibly not harmful. oh, Hi Doctor Nic!
