It features Dar Williams, Susan Werner and two other performers. If so, stop by and introduce yourselves. How will you recognize me? Well, since we don't have pins (or buttons or hats or whatever) just look for the guy going crazy during Susan's set. Oh yeah- I'll be wearing a SW sweatshirt I had custom airbrushed last week. If you would like to see it come to the show or view the attached picture. dkaskela@netaxs.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Mar 1999 12:52:05 -4000 From: "Charlie Sweeney" Subject: David's Custom SW t-shirt HI all, The t-shirt that David refered to in his earlier post is now on line. However Charlie, helpful as always, offered web page space at http://www.voicenet.com/~charlies/su-t3.htm so you can see it there. Charlie, thanks too for the nice compliment, but I'm not that talanted. It was done by a Philly airbrush artist on Girard Ave. I'm just the proud and lucky owner. It's 12:45 a.m. so this will be pretty short (and may well have typos, too). The show started around 6:00 and ended just before 10:00. After a local opening act, Aunt Pat (who was a really pleasant surprise) played for about 45 min. Then on to the real reason for the 100 mile trip. Susan played for almost an hour. She started with Tappan Zee (no Dear Abbey- she told him straight out), followed by a slow and sad Last of the Good Straight Girls. Then for those of us who came "expecting sad breakup songs" she did a rousing version of Gotta See the Body. Next was a slow Year of the Bad President followed by Time Between Trains. Then she moved into the "religious" songs, Sorry About Jesus and Ain't I Lonely Tonight. Next was the "before and after" set of Maybe If I Sang Cole Porter and Much at All. She finished up with a great version of Movie of My Life. After a standing ovation she came back and sang an a capella rendition of I Only have Eyes For You. Dar Williams was terrific ((but that's another story) and played for an hour and a half. Then she asked Susan to come back out and they did a great duet of City of New Orleans. Very cool. I met Keith (from the list) who had come down from Boston. He saw my shirt and immediately identified me as a fellow "believer". We spent about half an hour telling each other favorite SW moments. When I talked to Jane after the show she immediately asked if she could show Susan the sweatshirt (which was fine with me since I was hoping Susan would sign it). She came back and told me (sorry, Ron) that Susan thought it was great. Imagine how surprised I was when she invited me backstage at Susan"s request. Dar and Susan were having dinner with a group of major contributers to the No Nukes benefit, where she "showed off" my shirt and then very graciously signed it for me. She really made me feel she was glad to see me again , and is one of the warmest, most gracious and down to earth performers I know. Gotta get some sleep...
