I was concerned, not knowing how long the interview would go, that Bring 'Round the Boat was the second song she performed. It's not one of my favorites on the album. However, I also have not seen it live, since the album came out. Thus her post-song comments may have been old hat to those who have seen it performed since September. Basically, a pretty voice, while an asset, can become a liability if the listeners hear the voice and not the words. Apparently, that's the theory behind the style of BRTB. I think Brecht called it a "distancing effect" or more properly, some long German word I can neither spell nor pronounce. An SW concert is full of that audience interaction, which an album has a hard time duplicating. If that is the reason the track is there, ok. I don't necessarily care any more for the song, but I can appreciate why it's there. Overall, a really good interview and I'm glad to see/hear a national audience being exposed to her music. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? BRTB has been performed on every set list I've seen posted here and was certainly part of her last two shows in NYC. It was her selection today as well. This song is seems to be here to stay and, unlike what seems to be the majority opinion, is one of my favorites on the CD. I really love it and don't feel as if it's male bashing, angry or petulant. Anyone have any info on that? I imagine the reason they are not listed on her official tour schedule is that these are, in effect, private appearances - for conference attendees only. Susan is appearing in the official showcase on Saturday afternoon, and also at a number of the privately-sponsored showcases. The official showcase is typically 3 songs (Susan's slot is: 4:43-5:00 p.m.).
