Check out: http://www.flemtam.com/sw-itin.html Being her booking agent, they have the latest commitments and do a pretty good job of keeping the initerary up to date. Sherlyn is making it to the states??? Great. Come a little early (February 18th) and join us for skiing. This is a reminder to all of you. If we want to get a group going to the 4 Corners show after a day on the slopes let me know ASAP no later than Monday 1/18. Well, I'm only guessing, but I'll bet you that on the floor of the tour van or whatever is a worn copy of Harper's from a couple months ago, and that exact story has stuck in my mind as well. It's difficult to know what goes into comments off the cuff, but it's probably not at all mean-spirited. Susan deserves a break on this big time. Right? No, no secrets were revealed, although in her "World Cafe" interview with David Dye she described it as true-to-life, a situation where something about the family appeared in the local newspaper years after school --- probably a bit of domestic abuse, given the song... sad... Makes for a poignant song, no? (Rusty, let it die... ) That's a nice touch of Susan's, connecting with her audience through "local flavor"... I'm sure it turns into a "failed bit" sometimes, like the Seinfeld AMEX commercials where he bombs in England/Ireland(?), quickly tours the country to learn the local customs/lingo, and makes a triumphant comeback. Last night, Susan made a reference to "the big white guy" down in Houston... which was met with basically puzzled silence for a few seconds... "You know, the President of Texas or something like that!!!" Well, there's apparently a huge statue of Sam Houston down there somewhere... which came clear after more discussion and one-liners... She also added a couple of bars of "The Eyes Of Texas" to one of her piano songs, which was obviously picked up on IMMEDIATELY ... Ya can't blame a girl for trying! I caught on to Susan during the LOTGSG tour and have seen her every time I could when she was in the Dallas area. Her wit and talent are tremendous (as you all know). I'm still kicking myself over missing the Cheryl Wheeler/Susan Werner show in Tulsa, but family duties prevailed. :-( Anyway, about the Houston show, sorry to hear that Susan seemed a bit bitter. I had the opposite impression of her in Dallas. She seemed well rested and chipper. Perhaps she enjoys playing at Uncle Calvin's. I took two friends two the show who were newbies and they were quite impressed. My own feelings are that this is the best Susan Werner show that I've seen with the exception of the first time I saw her at Poor David's Pub with maybe 25 people in the audience. Paul - I was right behind you in line for Susan's autograph! The coffee cup was a great idea. :-) Well, I'm off for Austin soon. If anyone from the list is at the show tonight, I'll be wearing my "Blue Dog for President" button. Stop by and say "hi" if you'd like. kellye fumbler@fastlane.net Plano, TX HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 18:13:07 -0800 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Susan Interviews? Well, check out the press section in susanwerner.com. I've been slowly adding articles, but it's been a slow process of retyping them. On the same note, if anyone would like to help me type in the huge collection of Susan-related articles, drop me a note. I have about 100 articles waiting to enter... - -jeff HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V3 #13 ****************************** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
