My sister and I were sitting alllll the way over on the stage-left side right in front of the speakers in the 3rd row...I never knew that Susan would need so many large speakers in an indoor venue ;) Dave, the Jersey Shore song with which she started off the show is "The Last Go 'Round"...at least, that's how I think it's being titled...She also did "Year of the Bad President" and "Baby, It's Ok to Feel Good", a newish song that kinda reminds me of something Diane Warren would write :) She played two sets that was quite similar to her sets at Emerson's Umbrella near Boston in October...my sister remarked how she prefers seeing Susan at farther spaced intervals since this lets her appreciate Susan a little more (although Susan is one of her favorites)...I don't care...I like to see Susan as often as possible *grin* For her encore she started off with a Cheap Trick song that David referred to as "I'd Love You To Love Me"...i didn't recognize it until she got to the chorus "Didn't I didn't I didn't I see you crying" because she did a slow, torchy version of the song...yummy... It seemed like a pretty short show, starting a little before 8 and ending a little before 10...the early finish really threw me, but it was good since I had to get back home to catch some sleep and wake up early to grab a 7 AM train back up here to Boston. Charlie, you didn't show up, did you? Jeff told me that you were having stomach viral-inspired complications yesterday...where are your priorities, man?! ;) hope that you're getting over it... Oh, susan also said that she's studying Portuguese because she's heading down to Brazil soon. According to Jeffw, she'll be touring for the next two weeks around the States, then taking off immediately after the last date to Brazil for a couple weeks of fun and culture and stuff...go Sooz! Susan had her self-deprecation out in style as always, and when she mentioned that she was doing two sets, she said that those of the audience who didn't like the first set could leave during the intermission. Later in the show, susan remarked about how maybe she should just play gershwin tunes all night, and I clapped fairly loudly and quite solitarily, and she stopped, stared in my direction, and said "you know, what if the performer isn't happy with the audience"...thank god she couldn't see me :) Paul "blue hair and all" Kim HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Nov 1998 16:38:40 -0500 From: "The Bearded One" Subject: Re: digest #202 and Sherlyn's Web Page In digest #202, Sherlyn wrote... >(ps the lyrics to TBT *will* be on my web site sometime >soon-ish... plus I've been meaning to actually post my >thoughts on the album for about two months now - ah >well...) ... but she modestly failed to give us the URL to her web site. Jeff told me that you were > having stomach viral-inspired complications yesterday...where are your > priorities, man?! ;) My priorities revolved around porcelain, uncontrollable chills, and a103 temperature. I've been getting payed to play music for 36 years and I have never cancelled because of my own illness. So I get the chance to see Suze, meet Jeff, hang with a host of believers and all I can focus on are the words "American Standard." But I'm fine now. Sure. Too late. Rats!!!!!!
