I told her I loved it, but was puzzled as to why it was not indexed. She said her producers thought the track was so different from the others that to include it on this album they decided to "hide" it. It was clearly not her idea, and I'm not sure she agreed with the choice. She was discrete about actually not stating this, but I could tell she was uneasy about it. I love the idea of hiding tracks, but only when the artist knows about it, and actively participates in the decision and the choice of track. I didn't push the issue. As for "Vincent", the song never moved me until I heard Susan's interpretation. Granted, I've only ever heard the Don McAllen version, but until then it was only a story to me, without much emotion. Susan's interpretation is much slower, quieter, thoughtful, and most importantly, intimate. For me, hearing Vincent in this new way was like standing on soft sand at the shore and losing your footing by the unexpected large wave of the quickly incoming tide. I was totally unprepared by the power of it. It was familiar, yet I fell completely into it without warning and had to hold my breath until it was over as it tossed me around. And once drenched, instead of getting out and drying off right away, I listened to it again, and anticipated the next wave. This time I basked in it and took in the sensations. Until then, I hadn't gotten more than a little involved in the experience. Now, I've been covered in it, and I can't deny that it happened. If I tried, everyone would know I was all wet. ;-) Marc HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V2 #183 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
