Trains run slowly over here. Montreal, Quebec, Canada 15 October 1998 'HOUR' 4/5 stars Can she write melody and lyrics? Yes. Sing? Oh yeah. And she plays guitar and keys and vibes, but producer/guitarist Darrell Scott seems to find ways to compliment her every nuance with some impeccable understatement of his own. Using muted trumpet works wonders on 'Montgomery Street', and acoustic bassist Viktor Krauss gets a great mix throughout (how big is that thing?). There's even a wee spot of bagpipes in 'Standing in My Own Way'. It may be that this project is one of those magical moments that happen from time to time, uninvited, as Werner hints at in 'Courting the Muse'. It's a peach, with a little humouresque at the end.
