[Gregg Humphrey Subject: Re: believers-digest V2 #152 >How come nobody on this list has yet mentioned the Petaluma Afternoons track? I have to agree Mary Ellen. I love this song. It's a nice "up" tune, in contrast to some of the other introspective, heavier songs on the album. You don't have to think too much with this one. One of the great things about Susan is her ability to place you at some point in your life with her music. I could feel myself at 17 again, no responsibilities or worries, on a warm afternoon listening to the Doobies. It's a shame the song has to end & jolt me back into reality! Anyone who ever saw the Story, or especially, who has heard Jennifer's new album (and the pre-release demo) knows that she is definitely not "the John Oates to Jonatha Brooke's Daryl Hall," more like Phil to Jonatha's Don Everly. I would think there are any number of reasons for her answer to Rob's question. One possibility ..... by coincidence, both Susan and Jennifer were playing in L.A. last night. Susan was at McCabes, one of the best small rooms on the West coast. No surprise given that Susan's a well established artist with an awesome booking agency (F&T) behind her. Jennifer was at the famous, but less intimate Troubador in Hollywood. Only guessing, but perhaps there was a bit of booking rivalry when Susan and Jennifer were setting up their current tours. still in a state of bliss from Susan's show last weekend, Gregg Humphrey Portland, Oregon - --------------008887643FA40237BBA69B0D Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="vcard.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Gregg Humphrey Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="vcard.vcf" begin: vcard fn: Gregg Humphrey n: ;Gregg Humphrey email;internet: jurisdoc@teleport.com x-mozilla-cpt: ;0 x-mozilla-html: FALSE version: 2.1 end: vcard - --------------008887643FA40237BBA69B0D-- HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Sep 1998 20:40:30 EDT From: Rocknroots@aol.com Subject: Re: Folk and Susan As co-hosts of "Rock 'n' Roots Radio," a one-hour weekly public radio program currently airing in over 20 U.S. states and throughout Australia, we struggle and strive to demonstrate the links between musical genres - folk, blues, country, jazz, world, r&b, rock, swing - rather than respecting the categories that limit and reduce their accessibility.
