(just kidding... eeeeeeewwwwwww the anticipation!!!) Now my question: What is the advantage to placing an order rather than going to a local store on Sept. 16? I'm curious to know if I understand all the issues. If I think a local store will have it, then I'd have it sooner by buying there, providing they didn't sell out first. But: If I order from songs.com or her own site (--I forgot where exactly someone said we could find it besides the big online music retailers), does Susan see more of the money? Is that the deal???? Hi all, Ya know, I had a chance to ask this of most anyone in the Susan camp last weekend, and it didn't occur to me. Sorry. There are pro's and con's to all the methods. Copies bought over the counter from major retailers are "Soundscanned" that is, counted by the music industry. A big hit in this respect can lead to Susan being picked up by a major label. Which has it's own good news-bad news. Same goes for on-line buying fom the major retailers like Tower, Virgin, etc. The strictly on-line services generally did not use "Soundscan" as of about 6 months ago, but that may be changed now. This release is being handled by BMG, which may be the largest music distribution company in the world. I think you can expect that the retailers (even those with online order systems) will be on a level playing feild, so there probably won't be a lot of difference in Susan's return per CD. However, all of Susan's previous albums are available only from songs.com, and probably will remain so. Time between Trains will be available there as well. I will copy Susan's management on this mail, and maybe they can tell us their preference. RIGHT???!!! RIIIGHHT?? If she needs a ride I can come get her --seriously. I had my one and only (thus far) Uncle Calvin's experience last year when Ellis Paul & Don Conescenti performed. (Dallas is a bit further than I thought...! but I can find someone to kidnap for company on the way up. In fact, if I'm chauffering Susan, I could probably charge a fee for that navigator seat ;-} ) Whoever is seeing Susan soon, let her know we are burning the Cactus fires for her (...the Cactus Cafe is a great acoustic Austin venue for those bewildered faces!) Yeah, Cactus Cafe is a great place to see SW! Small (150+) and decent acoustics. Plus a well stocked bar. Specta Bona! I remember seeing someone on the front row offer her a rose and a slip of paper last summer (97). Not me by the way, but an SW show is a great first date (how are you these days darlin'?--if you're still on this list). Does Cactus Cafe still make those Jack and Gingers that loosen your heart, move your lips and induce you to overstate your intentions? What's the line...
