At this point I have no track list, no advance copy, no artwork, no webpage, no info for posting to DJ's. Nada,nil,zip, bupkus, nichts. As soon as I know- you all will know. I do know there are no songs about aliens, kung fu, or what Susan wants, what she really really wants. No mmmmmmm-anything. Nothing in Latvian. I am reasonably certain that no large briny bodies of water on the Eurasion continent are mentioned so that leaves out that new tune about love and dead fish she's been doing "Bluer than Dead Sea Blues". And I am assured no sado-masochistic songs made it so "Hold me, Thrill me, Whip me, Kill me" is also off the agenda. However, there are certainly songs on the CD. So I am gonna personally fund a little contest. And I'll open this up to believers only (but I will offer the opportunity to join believers to the folks on announce-only- gotta be fair). The Prizes: First Prize: Choice of T-shirt *and* autographed copy of the new CD Second prize Autographed copy of new CD The Rules: Open discussion of the new songs that are unrecorded. Those with knowledge of them, I will expect to be open and discuss these tunes fully, and why you think they will be on the CD. Discussion runs from Now until September 1st when I return from Philly Folk fest. Just so it's all on the up and up, I'm not going to tell you what we are basing our decision on just yet.. Judging may include, but not be limited to the following: 1)Number of posts about Susan's tunes, and why you like them (new or old) 2)Most eloquent description of how a Susan tune affected you 3)Number of tunes on the CD 4)Names of the tunes 5)exact track list 6)number of new believers you recruit 7)number of large denomination bills i receive in my mailbox with your name on them And I already know what the tiebreaker is, but I ain't telling }8-> On Sept 1st I will post to the list what the entries should include. I will definitely be looking at #2 above, so you can start that now, but please forward a copy to me personally(and of course, to the list), so I can keep track. The other items I decide on will be sent directly to me, so all the info except for the "essay" portion will remain secret. Submissions will be accepted until 12:01 Eastern Daylight time on September 11th, 1998. The decision of the judges, who will be myself, my cat, my iguana, probably Jane Paul Wonderroadie, and possibly Susan herself, will be announced on September 15th. The decision of the judges will be final. Void where prohibited. Non-fattening and 100% sodium free. Now start posting!
