True, but let's face it: for music, RA sucks. I can't imagine there being any bootleg market for something that sounds like it came down bad phone line in an electrical storm. I think an RA concert would be fun, and would pose about zero risk for piracy. Who would buy it? Susan's fan base is hardly comparable to Megadeath's, where such worries might be more likely. Even if somebody did establish an underground FTP site with the whole show available in RA, would that stop any fan from buying the album? I doubt it. Would the site get ratted out in a heartbeat by one of us? Probably - who wants to see Susan ripped off? Bottom line: Susan's fan base just isn't a good market for pirates (commercial or otherwise) and even if it were, RA isn't the right vehicle. I think a bigger issue might be that, perfectionist that she is, Susan might not like her work shoved through the RA cheese-grater. Cheers, Bob PS If anybody works for RA, please don't send your lawyers my way. For real-time audio over a modem line, it is a remarkable acheivement. It's great for listening to The Daily Feed or NPR News. It just ain't hi-fi. Hi y'all. Well, after all this discussion of webcasts, RealAudio/Video, etc., I got to hear a good old-fashioned radio broadcast of Susan tonight. KUT-Austin does a summer series called "Live at the Cactus," which is broadcasts of folk concerts from the Cactus Cafe at the University of Texas. The show they broadcast tonight was actually taped last September (and edited down to an hour), but it sounded perfect -- the recordings from the Cactus Cafe sound as good as any live concert CD I've heard (Christine Lavin actually used the edited "Live at the Cactus" radio broadcast as one of her live CDs!). The setlist was pretty typical of the shows I've seen Susan do this past year; lots of new material and some old favorites. Tonight's broadcast included: Standing in My Own Way Tappan Zee Your Old Mistake The Most Intimate of Friends St. Mary's of Regret Petaluma Afternoons Ain't Misbehavin' Long Time Between Trains So Heavy Au Naturel Maybe If I Sang Cole Porter Society Ball It's a Pleasure to Be Here Ain't I Lonely Tonight (Obviously I'm guessing about some of the new song titles) It was really cool, and I'm looking forward to the new CD more than ever now...
