I saw that Susan is playing a set at the Ben & Jerry's Newport Folk Festival in July. For all you Dar fans, she'll be there too. There's more info at . And for God's sake, if Susan does decide to enter the cyber world, let's hope she does it on a Mac! =) Kris HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jun 1998 10:31:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Rob Piester Subject: RE: Susan on vinyl I like the idea Fred. How tricky/expensive would it be to do Real Video as well? And what happens to all the film shot at her King of Prussia show? Could that be used for the SW website? - ---Fred Ingham wrote: > > One idea on leveraging the internet would be to do a live concert as > part of the launch party. Unfortunately, he made the offer about two days before the TA show last week, while Sooze was still out of town. The issue from my point of view is that it would have to be made secure i.e., copy proof. Sorry, but I am the maven of internet copyright protection. Please be assured, never the less, RA/RV is probably in the future, as well as a net chat. Right now Susan has a CD to put the finishing touches on. She is currently having several cuts remixed, in between a touring schedule that has remained uninterrupted. And remember, a remix means another flight to Nashville. I suspect, though I haven't seen it, that Susan is getting a little tired about now-2-3 gigs a week and flying out to record, flying back out to the venues. I think she prolly has enough to worry about for the moment, don't you? ;-) Charlie(=}===# HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jun 1998 19:15:01 -4000 From: "Charlie Sweeney" Subject: RE: Film from Upper Merion And now for the second part of Rob's question. In principle I think it's a great idea. The film shot at Upper Merion is, I suspect, property of the venue. In any event, none of the servers we currently use has the capability of streaming RA. Additionally, the issue of what Susan's homepage will ultimately look like revolves around business issues to which I am not privy. Right now we are using NOMA as the homepage, and although NOMA is a wonderful site, I really think that Susan needs a fan based homepage, and several believers have offered their assistance. To them especially, I apologize for the delay. Before further work is done, I need to get a clear vision from Susan's management, and until that occurs, the homepage for susanwerner.com will continue to be NOMA. In other news, The Joni Mitchell Discussion List and Internet cafe is joining smoe.org in the coming weeks. The listowner, Les Irvin has requested my assistance in the first few weeks, until he get the hang of unadorned Perl (he uses a web-based interface on the current server). The JMDL is about twice the size of believers but has a very high activity level. The musical content is high, and of a high maturity level (like believers ;-) )and the website is one of the richest musical resources on the internet. It's just part of promoting the artist. If it doesn't happen this time, maybe in the future. You raise an interesting point about copyright. I don't know how the folks at RA handle this from a technology perspective. I have a friend who works there. I'll ask. My initial thought is that bootlegging on the web isn't much different than bootlegging in person (except for the digital fidelity). It would be illegal to re-broadcast or reuse the recording without permission. It would still be good to have samples up, photos and text, etc., as well as online sales.
