The studio is in tact despite the storm two weeks ago. A tornado missed the studio by a half a mile-must be a good omen!! she's in preproduction this week and laying down tracks next week. We're looking at August for sure. She is with Bottom Line Records-that's certain at this point. She's doing well and is really focused on the recording right now. Where can you find out more information on them? What other artists do they produce? Saw Susan at Wolftrap. I guess she's still trying to test out the new stuff before putting it in the jewel box. Interesting contrast between the opening act, Connie Kaldor (sp?) and Susan. Connie was into all the couples in the audience coming out on "date-night" - --Friday and her slections were kind of upbeat. Of course, Susan was...well.. you know...Susan in the "torch" mode. I'd really like to see her do La Vie En Rose, but the closest she came was some French ad lib on Born Too Late. Overall, le bon soir (does that translate)? Re the 85% turnout and that she can't draw well enough to headline at the Bottom Line (of which I'm still in the dark), here's a suggestion. She needs some TV/Movie exposure. Maybe a guest spot stand-in for Vonda Shepard on Ally McBeal. How about an Austin City Limits gig? Or anything on the soundtrack to Matt Damon's next flick. Maybe even get a track on some indie film that is going to Sundance or the SXSW film festival. At some level, I don't want her to get too famous and put more distance between her and her fans.
