As you write above, asking questions is how we learn about each other in this forum so that we will come up with an acceptable way to say hello to each other at Susan's shows. Frankly I think we've got to be easy to spot. At any given venue wouldn't you look for fellow audience members who. 1. Got on line very early for prime seats. 2. Waved hello to Jane as she set up the stage 3. Sang along to EVERY song. 4. Booed at the house lights when they signaled that the show had come to it's end 5. Did not head back to buy cd's at the end because we own them all. - -************************************************************************************* - -This has been a posting from the Susan Werner "believers" list - -To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers"in the body of the message. - -To post to the list send mail to believers@smoe.org - -To reach a human, send to charlies@voicenet.com - -Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com - -************************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 10:48:08 -0800 From: Marc E* Zorn Subject: Re: I'm a believer... Whoa. That definition of 'kitschy' is FAR too harsh. I've only ever heard it used to mean trite, insipid, cliche', or formulaic. "vulgar" seems a little far from common usage. Most often it is done with a tongue FIRMLY planted in cheek. I agree, though, even the term "kitschy" is somewhat disparaging. I prefer we simply revel in our common appreciation of Susan's music (and Susan herself for that matter) rather than beceme elitist. Pull out that old Monkees record! And actually, when you look at the words to the verses, they're almost Susan-y . . .
