You don't need contacts, backstage passes, or a special anything . . . just walk up after the show. I try to say "hi, nice concert" after every show I see, and when I've gotten my CDs autographed, she always wants to take time to talk. When I went to the Iron Horse about a year ago, she sat down at one of the tables, invited people to sit down with her, one at a time, talked to me while she was signing my CD, and she even looked at me and said, "yeah, I think I remember seeing you from the stage-you were sitting over there, right?" !! When I saw her at Passim, she brought me back into her little back room, because outside was so crowded with people for the next show. So, I know you will be able to talk to Susan, and I hope it makes you feel better. Susan was backed by the incomparable Jay Scott on guitar. (For those that were at the show, that was me scribbling on the Pilot between songs...) If I wasn't sure of a title, it's marked with a (?) Standing In My Own Way Tappan Zee (Killer guitar jam at the end between Susan and Jay) Your Old Mistake Most Intimate of Friends (?) Last of the Good Straight Girls Can't Let You In (?) Ohayo Mountain Rumble (Jay Scott Solo) Bonsai Love Her Alone (?) Amy Miles (Sorry About Jesus and All That) (?) My Little Town (?) [Not to be confused with the S&G song of the same name!] Au Natural (?) Miss You Much at All Movie of My Life Boomerang (Some People)(?) It's a Pleasure To Be Here When Will I Be Loved Encore: Shackamaxon Street Good show, but Susan seemed a little subdued. Very little of her usual 300 mile an hour patter between songs, etc. Hope she was feeling OK. My absolute favorite Susan song is "Man Who Used To Love Me", but one of her new ones, "Can't Let You In", is now running a close second. I was completely lost in the music - a rare treat. I got there late, so I had the misfortune of sitting near the door - for those not familiar with the place, Tin Angel is laid our sorta like a shoe box. Stage at one end, bar towards the other, with the door in the middle of the left wall (facing the stage). The bar crowd was a bit noisy that night, and there was an endless stream of people coming and going. I don't know if I was just cranky about being late, but the combination of distractions bugged the heck out of me. I HATE being distracted at a Susan Werner show :-) Speaking of distraction, somebody flushed a toilet during one of Susan's last songs at the piano (the bathroom is right behind the stage). Susan got the funniest "I can't believe this is happening" look and stopped playing for second to fire off a good natured one-liner. Not sure who was in the bathroom, but they stayed there :-) My vote for the Beliver Icon: Parker Fly, pin if Charlie can pull it off. I've got plenty of T-shirts and they are too hard to spot under jackets, rain gear or deep-sea diving suits. Cheers, Bob REMEMBER SUSAN'S SHOW AT THE BARNS OF WOLF TRAP 24 APR.
