Being a fan of Susan Werner does not mean that you support gay rights, or that you don't. It also does not mean that you should have to express your opinion on the subject just because you are wearing an identifying logo pin, t-shirt, etc. I Believe our interest iin this online group stems from a mutual love of Susan'a music and performances, and not from our mutual belief in her personal opinions. >My thoughts: I'd like to see something more encompassing than just the >pink triangle. > >- --------------------------- > "Think Different!" > It's a Macintosh, > It Just Works! >- --------------------------- > > >- - -*************************************************************************** ********** >- -This has been a posting from the Susan Werner "believers" list >- -To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers"in the body of the > message. >- -To post to the list send mail to believers@smoe.org >- -To reach a human, send to charlies@voicenet.com >- -Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com >- - -*************************************************************************** ********** > >------------------------------ > >Date: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 23:17:06 -0600 >From: "Stephen E. It sounds great, but doesn't it look a little weird on Susan? If she's going to play electric, I'd much more expect to see her with a vintage Les Paul or something! As far as the pin goes, I'm not sure that I'm groovin' on the Tappan Zee idea. I'd much rather see something with the actual word "believer" on it, or how about "I Still Believe"? I too hope no one gets flamed. There have been a great many good ideas and even anti-ideas which are worth hearing and considering. Remember, if we want ideas to keep flowing we need to not criticise anyone elses ideas at this stage. There is a certain appeal to me to do nothing. I don't need more "stuff". On the other hand a shirt is fine because it is useful and I don't have a chest full. A pin or button is OK because it is small and discreet (not big stuff). A hat would be OK too. I wear them and mine are getting old. Perhaps when we get done, we can take a poll and see what people are willing to commit to, if anything. If folks have ball park ideas what eac idea would cost that would be helpful. I can summarize in a week to 10 days so keep those ideas flowing in the mean time. Then lets give a few days to constructively critique the summary. Then how about an online poll? I don't think any one idea has to be "the" answer. Certainly we can use more than one idea. And no one has to do anything. Keep the creativity flowing; take the time to listen (read) and consider other ideas. Awww...that's so sweet...hey...waitaminnit....you've met MEEEEE Charlieeeee :) Same concert, too....so :P Um...a good thing about getting something to represent the list for us to wear is that we can identify each other at a concert and feel some sort of connection...personally, I'm a shy little bugger most of the time and I'll just sit by myself and not talk to anyone, unless they approach me...but if i see someone with, say, a Sarah McLachlan mailing-list shirt or a (at least when i used to be on the list) Jewel list tee, then i feel like less of a stranger and like i have an excuse to say hi...it's a bit more difficult to do that with a complete stranger, don't ya know :) And anywho, i think that most of us (except for that durn aussie gal, sherlyn *grin*) are mature and human enough to not make this exclusive...sure we can wear the shirts or whatever with pride knowing that we are a part of a special community, but i doubt that it will turn us into elitist types... oh, and about having a pin shaped like the Tappan Zee...um...i dunno...the bridge ain't that remarkable, like, say the Golden Gate or the George Washington...I have no idea what i'd suggest for an identifier for us believers...
