Along with the aforementioned "big smile" I'm the guy on line 3 hours before the doors open to assure that I'm front and center right up against the stage. Until we resolve "The Bearded One's" proper address, please send your replies to the list. This would be a good time to remind all that if you ch*nge your e-mail addr*ss, you can send mail directly to me and I will handle the change for you. Now take it away Peter (if that is your real name ;-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Bearded One writes: OK, OK. I too saw Susan recently, (for the third time). She pulled me right off course. It was a Wednesday night. I was on my way to do my weekly grocery shopping trip when I suddenly a voice came (must have been a "believer") telling me she was appearing at 4 Corners in New London. It was just a 40 mile, 4 hour detour. The show was as good as what Stephen described in Concord. She's one of the best youngerrrr performers on the folk circuit. Sure beat shopping. My favorites: "Uncle John", "Yes to You", "The Great Out There", "So Heavy", "Rubber Glove Blues" (which should be given to one of those birth control/AIDS control organizations as a theme song.) and, of course, "I Still Believe". The new songs were great, can't wait for the new CD. She see's through so much and is so good at painting heavy, pictures with kind, firm strokes, best viewed from as many angles as one can manage. I volunteer to do the "I'm a believer!" t-shirt and distribute it only for cost (That OK with you Susan?) and only through this list (That OK with you Charlie?). I think it's about time she had a T-shirt for sale at shows as well (What do you say Susan, Jane, Fleming / Tamulevich, or whoever needs to get on the ball on this and authorize?). (I know you're modest but T-Shirts make great usable presents, are good free publicity, and if you want "believers", they want T-Shirts.) Should we let Susan OK the final design? Should we make her autograph each one? How about just a line for the signature to be gotten at shows. If any of you "believers" out there have ideas for designs, post them. I have a few ideas of my own but in the interest of brainstorming I'll hold them for now. Everyone feel free to give positive feedback to the ideas (negative feedback stifles creative thinking) and maybe that will kick in another round of ideas. At the end (in a week or two) I will summarize and everyone can then critique, both positively and negatively. Respond now because you know you will forget if you don't. - --------------------------- "Think Different!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's all folks! - -************************************************************************************* - -This has been a posting from the Susan Werner "believers" list - -To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers"in the body of the message. - -To post to the list send mail to believers@smoe.org - -To reach a human, send to charlies@voicenet.com - -Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com - -************************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Feb 1998 16:34:38 -0800 From: Marc E* Zorn Subject: How about something a little more subtle I've got a steamer trunk FULL of t-shirts (no joke). Sorry I had to laugh at this at first, 'cause I'm about as subtle as a nuclear weapon :-) Susan certainly is known for her stand on gay rights, and mentioned this in her excellent interview with Paul Porzio in Maryland last year. I know probably most of you have lots of t-shirts, I have a trunk full of them myself. Most of them I got for voluteer work at festivals, and charitable causes like Christmas in April, a Philly housing rehab project. So they all mean something to me. Certainly anything the believers come up with as an identifier is fine with me. This is after all _your_ list. This list is currently 135 people. The manual e-fan list consists of about 250. Should I post to that list as well? Let me know what you all think. First of all, it's almost like exclusive membership to a secret club (kind of like the Stonecutters), and secondly, you can wear a pin on consecutive days in case you're lucky enough to see more than one show in a row. Doing that with a t-shirt might not be the best idea. Rock on! If we want to go this route I know of a craftsman in Alaska that designs lovely glazed enamel ones. Perhaps a small replica of the Tappan Zee Bridge? If we want a piece of clothing how about a cap? Charlie mentioned Susan's support of gay rights. Could we have the classic pink trangle with the word "Believer" inside?
