From: "Young, Marty" To: believers@smoe.org Subject: jumping in... Date: Tue, 5 Aug 1997 15:59:11 -0700 okay, so I'll jump into the waters of waiting. My name is Marty, recently relocated from DC to sunny California. I was first introduced to Susan Werner as an opener for someone...(I can't remember who) at the Birchmere about three years ago. I can't remember who she opened for because I don't think I stuck around for the final act... Needless to say, before moving, I had seen four Birchmere headlines; made six trips from DC to Philly to see two shows each evening at the Tin Angel; drove to Virginia Beach to see a show at the Jewish Mother (not too many people will remember that show, but I did!); saw an opener for Joan Armatrading at the Lincoln Theater in DC and saw another show in Philly where Willie Porter opened for her. I suppose I was hooked by the sheer enjoyment of watching someone perform who knows how to engage the audience. I'm still a youngster, but I haven't seen anyone lately who performs with that much enthusiasm. The show at the Jewish Mother was proof that she has what it takes to make it big. I've also been very impressed at her willingness to talk with people after the shows. I have to say that I've been a little disappointed at the larger shows becasue I've never known how to get into that in crowd that gets backstage passes. I'm spending my time out here on the west coast wondering when I'll get a chance to see her out here. I've been looking into some locations, and since I do sound in my spare time, I have had plenty of opportunities to check out new places. Charlie, tell her to drive that Honda out here for a few shows... ;^) Still waiting... - --Marty Charlie Sweeney (=}===# Virtual Guitarist-Something Black charlies@voicenet.com http://www.voicenet.com/~charlies "Passion's always half impossibility the lovers that we lose we never dare to forget we visit them in mourning in December and in May in the graveyard of St Mary's of regret" .....Susan Werner Join Susan Werner's E-mail http://www.voicenet.com/~charlies/swmail.htm - -************************************************************************************* - -This has been a posting from the Susan Werner "believers" list - -To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers" or "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message. - -To post to the list send mail to believers@smoe.org - -To reach a human, send to charlies@voicenet.com - -************************************************************************************* ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V1 #8 ***************************** -************************************************************************************* -This has been a posting from the Susan Werner "believers" list -To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers" or "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message. -To post to the list send mail to believers@smoe.org -To reach a human, send to charlies@voicenet.com -*************************************************************************************
