These words in English were written on the internet site jaworzno.naszemiasto.pl by a British Basia fan. Thanks to the article about Basia out portal was visited also by guest from Holland or Mauritius, and that way we have gained readers from all over the world! Because the Jaworzno born singer is not only known in Poland but has her fans in USE, UK, France, or even far Japan. Basias songs are also known by people from her hometown Jaworzno, where during her concert the sports-concert hall was really overcrowded. 19th Jaworzno Music Days Jeunesses Musicales" have warmed up the audience. Basia Trzetrzelewska was awarded with diploma for her contribution to the promotion of Jaworzno, and was given a bunch of flowers from the city officials. It was the first time she has sung in Jaworzno. - - Its a huge honor for me. I am happy that finally I can perform in front of Jaworzno audience said Basia Trzetrzelewska during the concert. On the scene also appeared Mili Morena, Rudi Schuberth and Kevin Robinson, performing with Basia. A day earlier Jaworzno hosted Hanna Banaszak. Basia and other musicians were accompanied by Jaworznos eM Band. It was actually Marek Malisz, group leader, who came up with the idea to invite Basia to Jaworzno Music Days. - - In the beginning I thought that such a concert would be out of our reach. But after all I have managed to contact Basia. We started e-mailing. She agreed to perform with us. I am very proud, that I could play with such a star says Marek Malisz. Probably there is no Jaworzno citizen that hasnt heard about Basia Trzetrzelewska. If you ask older Jaworznians they would probably start remembering the times when she was living in Jaworzno. Her parents were famous for ice-cream manufacturing. Because the best ice-cream in town were exactly at Trzetrzelewscy, who had their ice-cream place at Mickiewicza Street in the city center. In those times Basia was participating in different songs contests. Already than she was singing with Jaworznian rock group Astry, with whom she performs at Beat Vanguard Festival in Kalisz. She was also a member of Polands most popular girls band Alibabki, and in 1977 she was singing with Perfect, that was debuting than. At school she was always among best students confirmed by her classmates and friends. - - We know each other from primary school, but only in high school we were in the same class. We were sitting together [In Poland usually there are 2 person tables in schools classrooms]. Basia was always helping me. She was good at mathematics and physics. She was always smiling and kind-hearted. She is that way until today says Maria Koczur, Basias best friend. Basia is a doll [not exactly sure if I translate this word correctly] and I am sure she will not feel offended by this description. We have spent a lot of time together. We know each other very well says Alicja Panek, another Basias soul mate. - - We often go to her concerts. We visit her at her home. Basia comes often to Jaworzno. Then she always meets somebody. She is very sociable person say Wladyslaw and Barbara Drabik, Basias relatives. The singer always speaks very warmly about her hometown. She is usually once a month in Jaworzno. She has home, family and friends here. Jaworzno is her refuge where she can rest. ________________________________________ About Jaworzno concert were dreaming not only Jaworznians but also Basia herself INTERVIEW WITH BASIA TRZETRZELEWSKA - - You live in Great Britain, but you often come to Jaworzno. Is it hard to leave your hometown? - - The fact that I dont live in my homeland does not mean that I should not come here. I was born here and as Szymborska says, you cannot live without that love. I feel sorry to all the people that live far, like Australia or Unites States, because to visit Poland they have to travel for long hours. While I fly for two hours, so I come every few weeks. I love my family and friends. In Jaworzno I get cured of all illnesses. If I feel bad in England, its enough to come to Jaworzno and in a moment I feel better. I breathe differently. Our air isnt the freshest, but anyways I feel the best here. - - Why youve performed in Jaworzno only now? - - It was the invitation to Jaworzno, that I received in the time when I am active and had possibility to perform. Before for a while I was not able to sing. If was influenced by some sad events in my life. I also didnt have my group. But finally it worked and I think I will perform here again more than once. My group likes the eM Band, and I was always dreaming to perform with a big band. I have agreed to perform straight away. What will happen next, who knows - - And what are your impressions after first concert on Jaworzno stage? How did it feel to perform for your neighbors, family, Jaworznians? - - For my family and friends I sung many times. But I didnt have the chance to sing for wider Jaworzno audience. And whats strange I was not stressed till the moment concert started. And then suddenly stress appeared. I realized that all of them are from here, from my town. I dont know what happened to me. I think I became shy after hearing those performing before me and I got really nervous before going onstage. And I am not totally satisfied with my performance, as I made several mistakes. The eM bands arrangements were great but totally different from those of my regular band. But it was still great. I am very happy that I could perform in my Jaworzno. - - You performed with a choir of your friends with a song Amelki smiech [they mistaken the title writing Amelki spiew Amelkas song]. Where that idea came from? - - My friends love singing. When we have some party, somebodys birthday or anniversary, everybody sings. I invited them to that recording. It worked really great. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 06 Mar 2011 11:53:21 -0600 From: Bev Okin-Larkin Subject: Re: Translation of Jaworzno article and short interview Krysia, THANKS for translating!
