Don't be too bummed, though: It really just amounts to how many people you can get to stuff the ballot box in a popular, internet-based vote system like this. I really tried to mobilize Basia fans (and people who don't even know who the hay she is, lol!) but with a larger fanbase and more albums recently... it was probably a lot more effective on Diana's side. ;) We probably did identical things (mobilizing fan groups and forums, Facebook fans, Twitter etc) but she has greater numbers, and probably better name recognition with the 'generation' of smooth jazz fans that got into the music more recently than 20 years ago. Plus, Basia isn't smooth jazz, anyway. So there's that! I'm psyched that she got a nom, because from my (limited) understanding those came from within the industry. As disrespectful as the industry has been in the past toward her, it's a great thing that the right people got ballots for the nominations.
