Happy Birthday to our songstress! - -- - -- Bev Okin-Larkin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2010 20:46:17 -0400 From: Paxety Pages Subject: What I did for Basia's birthday First, Happy Birthday, Basia. As I have attained too much gray hair to work in the broadcasting industry, I am now working on the floor of a manufacturing company. The young'uns who work with me listen all day to one of two radio stations - one plays "Stairway to Heaven," "American Pie", and "Freebird" at least once every hour. The other similarly plays "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Piano Man", "Let It Be" and "The Pina Colada Song." "Those are like classics, man." "Yeah, I was sick of them both the first and second times they were popular." So, today, I filled my Zoom H2 with 8-hours of Basia music. I hooked it into the shop's sound system, and as the Zoom is neither an iPod nor an iPhone, the young'uns had no idea how to stop it from playing. By the third song (TSI's title song, "The Sweetest Illusion") Loco Miguel was dancing. By the fifth song, Arrecho Jake was all like, "Man that dude can play the piano," and stuff. I regaled them with tales of Basia and Danny, had them fascinated with Ronnie Ross's return from the grave for Matt's Mood, and had them drooling over my descriptions of the Clarisse twins. At the end of the day, I asked Arrecho Jake how he liked it. "It's good, man. I like all kinds of music. Bring something else in." Tomorrow, I may bring in High Point, North Carolina's own John Coltrane. un abrazo, juan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Sep 2010 19:45:30 -0700 (PDT) From: "marzenie_99@yahoo.com" Subject: Re: What I did for Basia's birthday Post of the year!
