Ever since I have follen for her. Even when I still did not know what the lyrics are about, as I did not know to much English. There was something in Basia4s voice and music that transmited hope and good thoughts. As she said herself in one of the interviews, even when she writes about sad things, she tries to make people aware that it4s not the end of the world, that there4s always hope. And that way she was always lifting me. Even songs about end of love, still seem to me songs of fulfillment and trust that there is still so much in front. Just to mention few exmaples: Brave new hope - "Times are changing so am I, I4m not alone 'cause there's a heart needing love I know that God will give me one more chance" or "There is no need to worry, I'll find my place in the sun" Reward - "You are everything I need, You are the sun the air I breathe" Prayer of a happy housewife - "Thank you for letting me dream and hope" Yearning - the song, that Basia herself says to be about missing her homeland, was always like a prayer to me. Cause after all you find your home in the person you love. I belive that listening to these songs also had great part in shaping me, as I am now. If I4m an incurable romantic, I guess I can blame it on Basia ("in my land of great romantics, I4m the biggest dreamer of them all...") And I still belive, that one day I4m gonna find my home in someone! That was a very heartfelt and thoughtful post. As you and I have for all intents and purposes grown up with Basia music we seem to have been similiarly affected. ;) It's pretty cool when you really think about it, how a person can really affect others through making a decision to write on the more optimistic side. She is able to do that and I have heard so so many stories from other fans along those lines. Her way of writing and/or singing that happy into the sad gave me a whole lot of hope when I was younger, especially going through typical teenage troubles and heartbreak, that growing up would be awesome and I should stick with it. Also there was a lot of fighting in my house when I was a young fan, and cranking Basia up to 11 on my headphones drowned it out and kept me focused and dreaming of another life. :) Of course her songs continue to inspire and encourage me, although differently now of course. TSI and the new album have so much that I relate to. ("Two Islands" is a bit hard for me to listen to casually, though- once in a while I can, but I have to be pretty grief-proof that day.) Her story for this album cycle in regard to fighting grief and depression and finding her voice again is inspiring- gives me hope that I could get there too one day. :) I believe you are right and there is truly "someone for everyone"!
