Basia was born Basia Trzetrzelewska on this day in 1959 in the small industrial town of Jaworzno, Poland. Before her solo career, the Polish singer, who now lives in London, was a back-up vocalist for David Cassidy. Today, she has seven albums to her name and hits such as New Day For You and Time and Tide. In 2005, after 10 years away from the music scene, Basia delivered new songs for Matts Mood, an album by the British group known as Matt Bianco featuring Basia. The CD included the smooth jazz hit single Ordinary Day. Basias latest CD, her first solo project in 15 years, is Its That Girl Again, which has the smooth jazz hit Blame It on the Summer. The CD was created with musical partner, keyboardist and producer Danny White, the younger brother of smooth jazz guitarist Peter White, who flew to London to perform on the CD. Basia tells us that it was Danny White who helped her get back into writing songs, including Blame It On the Summer: When I took a break from singing, trying to recover from the loss of some very dear people to me, Danny attempted to collaborate with other artists. He wrote this music with a friend, Andy Ross, but asked me to add some words to it. I knew he tried to gently ease me into writing again and it worked. I enjoyed recording this song because of the lovely samba feel. It felt like summer to me. But at that time, I wasnt really ready to write anything autobiographical, so I made up a story about a girl who gets restless every summer. Although I remember that feeling from the time when I was younger, and maybe sometimes its still lurking beneath the surface. Although she has performed in Europe to support her new CD, Basia will not be touring the U.S. this year. She is hoping, however, for a U.S. tour in the spring of 2010. And on the Smooth Jazz Countdown, Sade is at #1 with Soldier of Love", Peter White at 2 with "Bright". http://smoothjazznetwork.com/ Marcus _________________________________________________________________ Het laatste nieuws, shownieuws en voetbalnieuws op MSN.nl http://nl.msn.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 13:26:21 +0100 From: Krysia Szurek Subject: RE: Smooth Jazz Network Just that the year is wrong, but as long as they make you younger I guess it's fine ;-) Krysia > From: dutchmarc66@hotmail.com > To: basia2@yahoogroups.com; basia@smoe.org > Subject: Smooth Jazz Network > Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 12:37:25 +0100 > > > Some more words on how Basia got back to writing songs like "Blame it on the > Summer".Basia Celebrating Her Milestone 50th Birthday; U.S. Tour Possible In > Spring > > September 30th, 2009 Brian > > > Smooth jazz vocalist Basia is marking a milestone today, September 30, as > she celebrates her 50th birthday. One session on one song... that was it. It's a total footnote! Ah well. Anyone who follows his writing knows he tends to sensationalize details- of course he'd be writing for SJN now, makes total sense. The year error is common (and Team Basia-perpetuated in the past, let's be honest!). At least he isn't saying she's older!
