The word 'extravaganza' makes me worried as to what they are expecting! Still, her story doesn't end there. All over the world, and throughout the years, Basia's success continues, marked by the release of superb singles and quality albums. Utilizing her three octave-voice that spans from contralto to soprano tessituras, as well as her jazz-influenced stylings and multi-layered harmonies, Basia released in 1994 her third CD titled ''The Sweetest Illusions.'' Although the album failed to hit the pop charts, its single ''Drunk On Love'' did score number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Her follow-up CDs ''Basia on Broadway'' (1995) and ''Clear Horizon - The Best Of Basia'' (1998) were critically acclaimed. The first was recorded live at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York City. The second contained a cover of ''Waters of March'' written no less than by Brazilian songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim. Basia returned to the recording scene with her former band Matt Bianco in 2004. It can be recalled that her stint with Matt Bianco in the early 80s (and before her first album ''Time And Tide'' came out) produced the classic samba tune ''Half A Minute.'' After she had toured and promoted the album ''Matt's Mood,'' the singer started working on another solo album. The result is the just-released ''It's That Girl'' which has begun to make waves in Europe, Japan and her native Poland. It is said that each song in her latest studio album is dedicated to someone in her life although her narratives describe characters many can relate to. Some of the songs in ''It's That Girl'' are ''If Not Now Then When,'' ''Someone For Everyone,'' ''I Must,'' ''A Gift'' and ''Two Islands.'' These new songs along with her top hits comprise the repertoire of Basia's forthcoming concert in Manila to be held on Oct. 21 at the Araneta Coliseum. Titled ''Basia Live in Manila: It's That Girl Again,'' the much-awaited musical extravaganza is presented by Music Management International and 105.1 Crossover, where you hear the best of Basia's music, and the finest in smooth jazz and R&B. Tickets are available at TicketNet and 105.1 Crossover Office. _________________________________________________________________ Nieuws, entertainment en de laatste roddels.
