And besides that below the article people are commenting that tickets are too expensive! Well, I know that obviously not the entire money goes to the artist, and the costs of such a concert hall are probably quite high, and I guess this time they can't allow themselves that the concerts are deficit (I remember reading what Basia said in one interview during 1994 Poland tour that actually Poland concerts were deficit but she has given that condition to the organizers, that they must perform in Poland), but I would say they are quite expensive. I was thinking to go to Zabrze and Warsaw and I already got a ticket to Warsaw, but as for Zabrze the nearest tickets I can see are 6th row (maybe certain page has those tickets and somewhere else it will be possible to buy some nearer). Anyways, with that price I am considering more going to one gig to London - cause if I manage to get some cheap airline ticket and stay with one of my friends it will not result much more expensive. While I'm venting *grin*, I know comments to news sites are not the best way to measure... well, anything to do with intelligence or to use as representing any greater line of thought, but I get so aggravated with the whole idea of.... Oh, I don't know who she is, her music isn't pop, why all the coverage, or why this price. Sheesh, she's only the only Polish artist to hit the Billboard pop charts. The, really, first and best-known one around the world. The highest selling one in pop worldwide by far. And never mind all that, she has had one of the biggest selling albums of the year there! She's kinda important to your musical history, guys. Respect? I can't imagine how frustrated you get Krysia! And reading all those comments is kind of frustrating to me, I am trying to defend her as I can (though my opinion was always that the good music will defend itself). People in the comments are comparing Basia's concerts' prices to Madonna's (Basia 150-250 PLN, Madonna 220-1100 PLN) saying that at least if you say you're going to see Madonna everybody will know who are you talking about. Well I find such a comparison not adequate at all, I think they are absolutely different worlds as far as music quality is concerned. And I really like some of madonna's songs from the 80s or early 90s but I think she built her career on scandal, many critics agree that she can't really sing well. Plus I can bet that with that chepest ticket on Madonna's concert one will be too far away from the stage. Anyways, as said - these are different worlds. We even threw down here with it. Never understood why those two ever come up in the same orbit! It's all good if a person can't/won't pay a price for a ticket-- I have the same dilemma too-- but dang, the playa hatin'! end it! ;) Leslie - ----- Original Message ---- From: Krysia Szurek To: basia@smoe.org Sent: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 11:56:15 AM Subject: RE: Onet on concerts in Poland - with links Yay, Leslie, I totally agree with all you've said.
