Leslie, And that is rough for them since it looks like the actual promotional activities - abcnews and the radio gig also fell through somewhat. I just hope they had pleasant flights, and were able to enjoy the towns while they were there since the publicity didn't happen. Personally, I think we need to get "with" their PR folks and find out where they want them to get so we can start emailing for it - like appearances on Letterman, Conan, Leno, etc. Especially before any US (hint hint) tour so that the "main stream media" can help promote them as well. Had we had some more lead time I know more list members or lurkers would have tried to make it to some of their California meet and greets. Anyway, we are here to help promote Basia too - not just enjoy the fruits of her and Danny's labors. - -- Bev Okin-Larkin marzenie_99@yahoo.com wrote: > A couple people commented on BasiaWeb, too. > > As an aside-- I know there are a handful of people who are upset, but Basia and Danny only found out where they were going on the 9th, when we posted about it on our respective sites. Have you NOT heard the new CD??? The magic is definitely still there in my opinion. Danny can still pull up some great stuff for Basia to complete and express to us. I find myself with the tunes in my head on a regular basis. Sometimes when I am listening to one in the car and go in a store the song goes with me and I will be feeling sad for the others in the store that don't have going on in their heads what I have going on in mine... then I smile because I think I am funny to think like that... I seriously will send you a CD if you want... excuse me.. NEED. I wish we could hear more about their trip. Things got stupider. On March 31, before ITGA had arrived at my PO box, my car began acting up. I stupidly got out to see what was wrong, and the car jumped into reverse and ran over me. The result was a broken right arm, a sprained left wrist, left knee and left ankle. I was a mess. Not being able to fully use either arm, it's a good thing Campbell's put pop-tops on soup cans or I would have starved to death. About three weeks later, I was able to walk well enough to get to the bus stop and ride to the post office to collect my copy of ITGA. When I arrived, I found that the post office had moved. Of course to a place that was a half-mile from the closest bus stop. I still wasn't able to drive, and I finally nagged one of my friends into giving me a ride to the new post office. There, after getting the key to my new box, I found no ITGA. I had printed out the delivery notice from Amazon, and took it to the clerk. She said it would have been delivered to the old post office, but that they were in the process of collecting the mail from the old boxes and bringing it over to the new. Check back in a few days. Finally, it showed up. I've gotten to listen to it once. Very nice songs. As a band person, I like all the real musicians on the album. It's funny that one of the things that attracted me to Basia (the group) in the beginning was Danny's skilled use of electronics. I'm sure I'll like it more when I've listened more. It's like a drug, when I hear and see Basia sing, I feel peace :-)) I love ITGA. Got blown of my feet when I heard it. And not only the first time. It took at least a month before I could 'just listen' to it. I haven't had this experience this strong since the T&T album. It's still Basia (B&D) but with so many new colors in the music, lyrics and Basia's voice. So fresh and powerfull at the same time. Top favs are Someone for Everyone, I Must, Two Islands, Love Lies Bleeding followed close by Oh Mama, Everybodys OTM, Winners and ITGA. For a second song to promote the album, my choice would be -a radio edit of- If Not Now Then When. An FM station no less, in the middle of the "dial". I was floored. That's always been AM territory, or at best a minor FM frequency. I still can't believe it. There are only a couple of decent stations left around here, and really only one I like. Thankfully there IS a (mostly) jazz station at a local university but the signal isn't always the best because it's small and a little far away. I am going to contact them to see if they are playing or will play ITGA. Reminds me of the time I was driving (back in the mid-70's) my '66 Ford station wagon, and I noticed a bee way in the back level with the open rear window. I got the "ingenious" idea to accelerate quickly, hoping the bee would be forced out, only to have the rear door pop open. I turned onto a side street and got out to close it. I gave it a hefty slam and the car popped into reverse and started backing up. I did manage to move out of the way, and jump in and stop the thing, but sure scared the crap out of me. What kind of car do you have? Old Ford products are known for popping out of "Park" into "Reverse". Glad you are on the mend! Glad you FINALLY got your ITGA! :) Phil P. You can create custom channels focused on artists & styles. My "Basia" channel plays Basia, Sade, Swing Out Sister, etc. Right now I'm listening to Ordinary Day off Matt's Mood. I would love to "hack it" and get it to play JUST Basia, but my computer skills are not sufficient! I do like most of the selected artists it picks, and I can reject those I don't like. It's also available on the iPhone & Windows Mobile if you have 3G or Wi-Fi. I've loaded it on my phone and it's pretty stable.
