They're now a rock station! Really, this is BAD for what is left of smooth jazz as it was one of the flagships. I heard rumors of WNUA flipping on radio-info, too. Wonder if that will happen. Not a SJ fan per se but observing the market to see how Basia does in it, bummer! Leslie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 May 2009 21:31:26 -0400 From: "Dennis J. There is still more than enough to keep me happy but from what I read today, my favorites are not what most others like. I first got into her music listening to the old Wave FM format of the late 80's. I still listen to and enjoy contemporary jazz (or NAC if you prefer) so my taste in music differs from most here. I am thoroughly happy with three or four tracks that fit my criteria. A couple of others I'm OK with and there are several that I will likely ignore over time. There aren't too many places you'll hear her music. The "smooth jazz" stations still love her and to this day play tracks from T&T and LWNY. TSI never got the acceptance even on these stations. It wasn't until Matt's Mood was released several years ago that anything newer than LWNY was played by them. (You'll hear her music on store background music systems, also.) I have been listening to ITGA a lot and got the urge to rip all of my collection and keep it on my computer to be able to listen to her whole catalog at one time. I also love the older albums and probably started some of the talk you heard lately. Funny, back then I would love almost every track on the CD's. Apparently Basia and Danny moved on and my tastes stayed the same! Oh well. An FM station no less, in the middle of the "dial". I was floored. That's always been AM territory, or at best a minor FM frequency. I still can't believe it. There are only a couple of decent stations left around here, and really only one I like. Thankfully there IS a (mostly) jazz station at a local university but the signal isn't always the best because it's small and a little far away. I am going to contact them to see if they are playing or will play ITGA. Barry ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V13 #101 ****************************
