I had a slightly (non-family) tale: a local deejay for weddings/events/etc. and I have become friends over the years - - since I take the pictures and he provides the music. He loves Basia as well - in fact, I've jokingly picked on him for using "Third Time Lucky" at weddings! (LOL) Anyway, I left him a CD and he is going to start encouraging "A Gift" at the weddings. And I do understand the joy of having her back and being able to share...it is a powerful thing. Thankfully, she gave us her gift again. - -- Bev Krysia Szurek wrote: > On the wave of going Gold by ITGA in Poland Ill tell you a story. > > It was last Easter and my family gathered in my Aunts and Uncles home in Wieliczka (close to Krakow). We watched video from last years b-day of my cousins son. The video was made by his (the kids) grandfather father of my cousins wife. He has put some pieces of music as a background and that was one of most surrealistic moments to hear Matt Biancos Wrong side of the street (one of my favs from Matts Mood) I watched the video more carefully from that moment ;-) I mean you would not expect that a song on the video from 5 years old kid b-day - but maybe his grandfather wanted to transmit him some message ;-) > And I knew before from Agata (my cousins wife) that her father is a long time Basia fan so later I told her OK, I will have a gift for your Dad! :-) > After ITGA was released in Poland I have bought several copies and I gave one to her, so she can pass it to him when they see each other next time. > > He called me today to say thank you, that he was surprised and he really loves it. He said he finds it different from the previous ones, yet very good one! Well, I was at work so we couldnt have a longer chat on that matter, but I am sure we will get a chance next time we meet. > But I was so moved to be able to share this joy of having Basia back with a fellow fan, that I felt like crying for a moment :-) > > Krysia > _________________________________________________________________ > Drag n dropGet easy photo sharing with Windows Live Photos. > > http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowslive/products/photos.aspx > > - -- - -- Bev Okin-Larkin ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 2009 09:27:31 -0700 (PDT) From: "marzenie_99@yahoo.com" Subject: ABC News Now cancelled The appearance at 1 today has been canceled. Here's the translation, taken from Kompas, Thursday, May 7, 2009. ===================== Anna Maria Jopek, Original, Unique, and Charming The most famous singer in Poland, Anna Maria Jopek, sang the songs enriched with traditional Polish music with her charming nasal voice. At several notes, her voice was so powerful and pitching high. In the chain of her Asian tour, Anna Maria performed on Wednesday (May 6) evening at Gran Melia Ballroom, Jakarta, in front of hundreds of audiences. After Jakarta, she will perform in Singapore and Japan. Last night, the opening number entitled "Bandoska" was sung by her in Polish, which, if it is translated in English means "Go down, little sun". The music was started with the jingling sound of a tambourine, then Anna Maria's aggressive voice was heard instantly. The rhythm was so Polish. It is not a wonder since she was accompanied by famous musicians such as Pawet Dobrowolski on the drum, Robert Kubiszyn on guitar, and bassist Marek Napiokowski. The second song with a sad tone was presented with her nasal voice. The melody is so beautiful, sometimes her voice sounded like moaning. At the beginning, she sang in Polish, then suddenly, she sang in English. Then, accompanied by the beat of drum stick at the snare rim, Anna Maria suddenly introduced three musicians accompanying her, still in the enjoyable melody. "Want to sing with me? My bassist looks like Elvis," that's how she introduced them. Those words was said by her in Indonesian. The audiences gave her applause when they heard the way she introduced them. A smart prologue. She did not forget to say thank you, still in Indonesian, elaborated in music. Anna Maria is really different. During her singing and musical career, Anna Maria, who is also a skillful pianist graduated from Chopin's Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, has released 14 albums. She has also received unique awards of master composer, guitarist, and 18 times Grammy Award Winner, which become classic instantly and were sold more than 80,000 copies just in 30 days. "Please don't categorize my music as jazz. Not as pop, folk, or whatever, also. I adhere all influences," said Anna Maria. In 2003-2004, Anna Maria made 100 concerts. From Toronto in Canada to Vienna in Austria. From London in the UK to Berlin in Germany. That's Anna Maria Jopek, a full of talent, beautiful artist from Poland. (LOK) ===================== That's all the news. I translate it 'as is', so maybe it is a little bit strange for you all. I myself feel a little bit strange when I read the news; it's like, something is missing or the reporter did not know what he/she write about well.... Have a nice day! Desianto F. W. First off, I didn't realize I had so many of them. Way back in the early to mid 90's there was a lot of trading and purchasing of promos, imports, special printings and the like, so I ended up with some 35 CD's of varying lengths and compositions. To be sure, there is a bit of duplication but listening to these after ripping them, it's a lot of fun re-discovering some of the more obscure tracks and remixes. I'm impressed all over again with the early albums and some of the songs that weren't included with the US releases. Tracks like Give Me That, Masquerade, extended mixes and the Holy Grail, ESK1276 with the early live tracks, extended mixes and, of all things, an instrumental version of Freeze Thaw. And for me, the real treat was hearing again the "street version" of Baby You're Mine from "The Best Remixes" (the Japanese version release, of course, with the embossed gold lettering!). It's an acoustic version if you haven't heard it and a real delight. So, for me it's a time of discovering Basia all over again. What a great time. You probably mean you ripped the CDs or converted them to MP3, which is another digital format. If you put LPs on your hard drive, then you digitized them. Quoting "Dennis J.
