I have got 30 minutes and heard only the last (probably best! ;-)) 10 minutes from it up til now. According to fenby (??) here http://orla.fm/re-play/4066 is where you can listen to the programme again (but it's not there yet). If you click the speaker-icon, you get a sample which can be downloaded. Maybe the whole show will be available for download (?). Otherwise I'll record it and can share copies. First of all I love listening to Basia speaking (leaving singing apart), there is something about her voice, that is filling me with peace :-) And as already said this interview was I think the best of all with her I have ever heard. They all seemed very relaxed and enjoying the time and having great fun. First George Matlock said that very many questions arrived and he thanks a lot to all the fans and it was really hard to select this one that will be the first that will get the CD signed by Basia and Danny. George actually had to make a first selection and than presented kind of shortlist to Basia and Danny I believe. The first question was to tell more about the inspiration for "A gift". Also song from Mondony was read, than from someone from UK (don't remember the name - sorry if that's a person from the list) - and also mine was read :-) First there was some kind of small talk - new album after a very long break, they mentioned the MB album from 2004 and the interview from than and George was reminding some funny story with Kevin from the time of that interview. Than they talked about Basia - Danny cooperation - very interesting! Basia actually said that if she was not working with Danny she would probably not be working in music industry at all, that he motivates her a lot and he always was believing in her. (So my sincere thanks to Danny :-)) And they said how they work - Basia is the one to write the lyrics and they compose music with Danny together, she said that sometimes she's simply drowned by some theme and than it developes. Basia mentioned that actually the song that was not made that way was Brave New Hope - she alughed that she had it in her head and just described to Danny but what he played at first dissapointed her - George laughed that Danny was not able to read her mind. And funny thing - but LWNY was the first album from Basia I knew (my father bought it) and Brave New Hope was the first song I have fallen for. They said they don't sit all the time together. Usually they work separately and than meet like once a week for few hours to compare ideas. They discussed how is recording an album now compared to the past (that was a question from fan too) - thechnology made it easier, you can record at home, but on the other hand it is also more difficult as they said. They also talked about Basia beginnings with Alibabki - she started to sing with them at the age of 18. And she was laughing that with the tour with them (or few tours) she managed to save enough money to buy heself a first car - light blue trabant (a dream of everybody in Eastern Block - my grandfather had one - also light blue actually). They talked about Jaworzno. And also why the album was not released in England - in a form of CD - they haven't found the company, but if I understood correctly possibly it will be released. They talked about possible tourne - as they said they need to see how the album will be doing - cause, as they said nowdays everybody is more careful, but they are very eager to go on tour. And also Basia said she is actually very eager to record a new album - that even they already have ideas for some songs. At the end (when talking about the places where it was released and not releared) they have also mentioned Marcus :-) That is more or less that, Krysia - ---------------------------------------- > From: dutchmarc66@hotmail.com > To: basia@smoe.org > Subject: RE: Interview with George Matlock > Date: Thu, 9 Apr 2009 21:31:00 +0200 > > > I arrived home at 22.30 and started recording a few minutes later. Hopefully they will be able to make it available as a "re-play" on the internet. I got an email from George for the address to send the CD to. I didn't expect that question to be picked; but I'll gladly accept the autographed CD! I'll scan it for all to see when it arrives. That was interesting about how 'Brave New Hope' was put together. It is one of my very favorites. And Krysia, you're absolutely right....there is something particularly soothing about Basia's voice, either speaking or singing. I suppose that is a good reason to thank Danny (since he motivates her) - besides being responsible for a huge chunk of the musical brilliance himself. I hope both of the recent birthday girls did something fun on their special day.
