Best EVER! Wow, Krysia - thank you for sending this! I've been on this email listserv for a long time. Almost ten years perhaps? It was a while after Basia's release of "The Sweetest Illusion", so that narrows it down to sometime during the last two decades. : ) And it AMAZES me how a fan list of a jazz artist could stay alive this long with so little happening - until now. And I'm a little late to the ITGA party here, I've been busy as all get out but am thrilled to be following the buzz here and look forward to getting ITGA. SPEAKING OF - folks - I just found it on iTunes, and I don't mean UK's iTunes, but the version I access from here in Maryland in what's left of the good ol' US of A. FYI. YESTERDAY MORNING, March 31, I was in the airport in Tampa, Florida, awaiting a 5:30 AM takeoff back to Baltimore, after visiting my father for the weekend, two months after his major heart surgery, and all is well, I'm pleased to report. I'd just returned the Ford Mustang convertible I'd rented to cruise Bayshore Boulevard in 85 sunny degrees with the top down next to the glimmering Tampa Bay with my sweetie-pie, and now we were both awaiting our flight at the gate, listening to the buzz at the newsstands, smelling the aroma of fresh coffee in the air ... yawning a bit ... ... when "Cruising for Bruising", original recording, came on loud and clear on the overhead muzak system, and our own Basia's cheerful, thoughtful, intelligent, passionate voice filled the air in the cavernous - yet surprisingly acoustically pleasant - Gate C in Tampa Airport at 5:30 AM. Can life be better? I submit that it cannot. And I said ... "ah, hear that? THAT'S who I've been talking about. And first thing upon arriving home we're getting her latest, it's been a long time coming." Although Matt Bianco was very welcome, natch. Speaking of ... I keep thinking of when many of us met at the Atlanta Matt Bianco concert not too terribly long ago, here's a reminder, featuring pics by Thelma and Lewis: http://corbinian.com/usr/basia/2005_04_basia.htm I'm looking forward to something like that again! So - hello my friends, from a longtime listserv subscriber and part-time lurker here. There's something about the heart and compassion in Basia's music that seems to draw the most interesting and warmest of kindhearted people. I love this list. I hope everyone is healthy and happy, from Maryland to Indonesia. : ) - - Steve - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Krysia Szurek Sent: Wednesday, April 01, 2009 5:15 AM To: Basia List Yahoo; basia@smoe.org Subject: RE: [Basia] Article in "Nowy Dziennik - Polish Daily News" Others - hehe :-) Title: "Has Basia recorded her best album ever?" http://muzyka.wp.pl/title,Czy-Basia-nagrala-swoj-najlepszy-album,wid,363726, w iadomosc.html >From Radio Rzeszow: http://www.radio.rzeszow.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=127 0 %3Abasia-qits-that-girl-againq&catid=99%3Ainformacje-muzyczne&Itemid=105 But I should really get back to work now :-P Krysia To: basia2@yahoogroups.com; basia@smoe.org From: montoya_sole@hotmail.com Date: Wed, 1 Apr 2009 11:11:24 +0200 Subject: [Basia] Article in "Nowy Dziennik - Polish Daily News" I have found this article right now. HA! That's EXACTLY where it came from! I wasn't even thinking about it, otherwise I would've credited it, but yes, friends turned me onto him a year ago and I saw him do a show at the new Strathmore Theater in Rockville, MD last year. That guy is the funniest thing since Jerry Seinfeld, and for my money, he's actually funnier, I love him to death. I downloaded two comedians onto my iPod - Brian Regan and Lewis Black. But Black is a bit monotonous once you've heard the yelling a few times. Regan is the best by far. Ever hear his "I Walked On The Moon" special? HYSTERICAL. Funny ... but those friends who recommended Brian Regan are Basia fans. Interesting. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org] On Behalf Of funniest@bellsouth.net Sent: Wednesday, April 01, 2009 9:11 AM To: basia@smoe.org Subject: RE: [Basia] Article in "Nowy Dziennik - Polish Daily News" Good to hear from you Steve !
