I strongly believe that this is the most expected comeback of the recent years! After a very long break, finally Basia gives her fans the completely new solo album. And it truly is A GIFT - definitely worth waiting for so long! As she revealed in one of the interviews, during those years some musical inspirations changed. The sound is fresh, yet still makes you feel that it is really "THAT GIRL AGAIN"! Songs like "Blame it on the Summer", "A Gift", "Two Islands" or "They know nothing about us" immediately conquer your heart to stay there for good :-) Basia's vocals sound as good as always - if not clearer and more touching! Fantastic instrumentals - especially piano or guitar parts! As said in Electronic Press Kit - all the songs carry some personal experiences behind - and it can be quickly noticed when listening them - that they are true and coming from the heart. Being a dedicated Basia fan for many years, I can assure - no disappointments! Also played it to my two friends - one never heard of Basia before - they were immediately drawn by her stunning voice. So the album is absolutely recommendable to Basia long time, devoted fans, as well as the new listeners! However I did get to Borders yesterday and they did have ITGA in the store, but only a few copies in each. And, I am also happy to report that it was on sale there for $14.99, with no teachers discount (I don't know about teaching but.....I could probably learn a few things, hehehehe.) The borders CD has two bonus tracks, which I am certain most of you Basia-philes are keenly aware....those being "Oh Mama" and a new version of "Clear Horizon". Both are terrific. Clearly $15.00 for 15 beautiful songs is a bargain, as I would have gladly paid many times over to get my hands on ITGA. The disk speaks for itself....one listen and you know that she's BACK!!!! And, in a much different way than she was with Matts Mood. Every song has it's day, although as Krysia pointed out "Amelki Smiech" could use a translation. I am Polish-American and haven't got a clue, although it does sound like a group James Bond could be after in one of the films. Maybe Krysia can enlighten all of us. Anyway, if you have not done so already, run out and get this disk ASAP. Next week I will turn 55 (which is truly frightening) and this lovely woman still brings tears to my eyes with her beautiful music. It's been close to 15 years since the Basia On Broadway shows....the last time I felt this way. Bruce Hesch In a message dated 3/25/2009 8:18:34 A.M. Cheesy and a bit campy but they were far superior IMO. I watched 3 or 4 of the new ones in the first two seasons and just couldn't get into it. I started watching the old ones when I was in 6th grade, they were shown on the local PBS station. I got into it a lot (big nerd level). I even went to conventions and had a Tom Baker hat and scarf.
