Thanks for joining! It must have been a hiccup in the system or something. I joined using Firefox and immediately had a confirmation email. Or it could have been the mail server. Sometimes stuff just flakes out. I've sent myself emails (from one computer to another in the same house), sometimes they're right there, sometimes they don't show up for hours, sometimes they don't show up at all. It's hard to determine the cause, you just have to say "eh, oh well" and move on, unless it happens all the time. Then you have to figure it out.
