She was so easy for so long: sleeping at length, eating without fuss, very easy going-- I think it made me complacent! She's just learned to sit on her own, woot! Hey, in regard to shows, any Flight of the Conchords fans? The songs just kill me. - --Leslie - ----- Original Message ---- From: "ZZsaZZsa@aol.com" To: basia@smoe.org Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 4:36:55 PM Subject: Re: cruisin' for bruisin' question Thanks for all the responses! Glad I was able to inspire some thought and discussion on the list since I am usually a lurker! I think I am now one of the "older" people on the list (hitting the big 4-0 this August, ugh!), but didn't remember ever hearing that phrase before. Since becoming a Mom, however, I tend to forget lots of things, so it may be "lost" somewhere in my brain. Leslie - hang in there - it gets better! Just when you get caught up on sleep and into a good sleeping groove, something else comes up - and poof - you are back to the sleep depravation torture! Kitty - yes, "The Office" is great and is one of the few shows we DVR and watch regularly! I could see Michael being a Basia fan, can't you?? - --Sheryl ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 May 2008 15:13:27 +0000 From: funniest@bellsouth.net Subject: RE: cruisin' for bruisin' question Hey, in regard to shows, any Flight of the Conchords fans? Leslie, My son who is going to the south of France for two years was introduced to them by his brother who sent a link to "Foux de Fa Fa" and we break out into that song at random times. The video is to die for silly. Fun stuff. The boys tell me that some of their stuff is dirty and we are "anti-dirty" but we like that song. I'll see if it's available from HBO "on demand" and check it out. Speaking of recommendations by fellow group members, thank you to Steve in Madison for turning me on to Pamela Driggs. I bought 2 CD's on Amazon and I was so-o-o-o glad I did. I absolutely love everything about it. BTW, I know I mentioned this before, but there is a version of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Just like A Star" out there where they do the song as a Brazilian samba and it is really really good. I found it on iTunes. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org] On Behalf Of funniest@bellsouth.net Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 10:13 AM To: basia@smoe.org Subject: RE: cruisin' for bruisin' question Hey, in regard to shows, any Flight of the Conchords fans? Reminded me of it, anyway! Other ones that kill me are "Inner City Pressure", "Rhymeocerous vs. Hiphopotimus" and of course (dirty) "Business Time". Oh, and "Bowie's in Spaaacce" ;) - --Leslie - ----- Original Message ---- From: "funniest@bellsouth.net" To: basia@smoe.org Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 11:13:27 AM Subject: RE: cruisin' for bruisin' question Hey, in regard to shows, any Flight of the Conchords fans? These two guys from New Zealand (they're actually comedians as a band, but in the show they are serious about it) have a "band" and date girls and whatever. Their manager is also head of the New Zealand tourism office and they have one fan. They're always broke and doing performances at awful places. So funny but has that kind of quirky humor that not everyone is going to get. When I first saw it (my brother insisted) I wasn't too impressed but it totally grew on me. I can see Office fans liking it. (BTW-- we are talking about the US Office-- isn't this the one time we adapt a UK show and it doesn't suck?! Woot!) I agree Kitty- the lists are a great source for recommendations! - --Leslie - ----- Original Message ---- From: Kitty Rosman To: basia@smoe.org Sent: Monday, May 19, 2008 11:46:22 AM Subject: RE: cruisin' for bruisin' question Not familiar with this show, but totally I respect the recommendations from fellow group members.
