Erm.. who you callin' "old thing"? I'm younger than you! ;) I dunno, a lot of remixes are done kind of off the clock, and on the fly. I was just thinking it was one of those. Not something authorized, because it seems like someone would have heard about it or seen it by now. I was excited because I thought Phil Harding cornered the market on remixes of this period. Eh, oh well. - --Leslie O. - ----- Original Message ---- From: "49ersphil@tiscali.co.uk" <49ersphil@tiscali.co.uk> To: basia@smoe.org Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2007 7:46:16 AM Subject: Re: More Cruising for Bruising remixes?!? But in looking at some sites I haven't visited in a while, I am pretty dismayed to learn that because of the situation, artists on major labels are no longer played on smoothjazz.com. I am wondering how many more stations are making similar measures to survive. Losing internet radio won't affect people like Sade or Peter White (mentioned in the link) as they have a lot of terrestrial and satellite radio airplay, but this does affect Basia and people who don't have a lot of traditional exposure. I'm lacking hard data but at one time this station had a huge listenership and was the largest of it's kind. Now they only play artists who are independent or who sign waivers that they will permit airplay. This presents a theory that if Basia and Danny go with a major, the new album may miss some valuable exposure on internet radio. When MM was not getting played much on radio it was getting several spins a day on this station. I definitely don't have idealism about internet radio, but I do know that any exposure really helps. Here's the full story: http://www.smoothjazz.com/openmic/OpenMicViewPosts.php?D=082007 It's in a Q&A format but the whole topic is well explained. I have no conclusion or solution, but this bugged me, and I was curious as to what you all thought. Plus this list needs a discussion, badly. - --Leslie O. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need a vacation?
