I'm not much of a fan of his, but the album is interesting. Sounds like he hasn't lost a step. Just finished listening to Tony Bennett on the American Classic Duets CD. I love the standards. (Maybe showing my age.) Of course (and you'll like this Leslie) I have a constant 1800+ track playlist of Smooth Jazz favorites streaming online and feeding my FM transmitter to fill in the gaps. I and my loved ones haven't exploded yet ;) Dennis - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie Osborn" To: Sent: Tuesday, September 26, 2006 2:12 AM Subject: OT: What We're Listening To Now (the old standby topic) > > Things are not good over here at the moment so let's talk music! :D > > My brother and I were in the same state for a week or so and in that span > of time he got me loaded with mp3s- mostly rock. Okay Guys, Firstly let me apologies for being one of those people who sit in the background without contributing much to the group on a regular basis. Even though I live in the UK and have been a huge Basia, Danny and Matt Bianco fan for many years, it's very hard to find information about gigs, Albums and news, so I am grateful to all those who contribute here. True talent is rare in the music industry today, especially in the UK. As a result I have been forced to find alternative sources of music to the regular claptrap the record labels are now presenting us with. My answer is 1 Go Live 2 Go Local To be honest, aside from the cool Latin beat, blues is my kind of thing. I'm a frustrated guitarist myself; I just wish I had that sort of talent. Now, the best two local bands in my area are Snatch it Back and Jack the Biscuit. Two very different styles of blues, but none the less, both very good. Take a look at the websites for these bands at www.snatchitback.com and www.jackthebiscuit.com Snatch it back are some old timers who learnt their there craft very well, and JTB are very new but oh my god, are they good (sorry at this point for the language). Jane the vocalist has such a great voice (she isn't bad to look at either) and Chris on keyboard, incredible talent for a guy of 19 years old. Make sure you listen to the samples on his web site. You will find a link from the JTB site if you look at the About Chris section. There are some samples on the Snatch it Back discography page for you to try out but as yet, nothing to listen to on the JTB site. They do have a CD out soon though so if anyone is interested I'm sure I can get hold of some MP3 samples and put them up on the web for you to listen to. Let me know and I will make it happen. I would love to see what's local to you. Who are your local favorite bands and why do you like them? Lets not forget that for everyone who makes it in the music industry there are many more who should, but don't. Make sure you support your local bands. Who knows, they may surprise you Ok, I will shut up now and disappear for 3-4 years or so. Regards Alan Somewhere in the UK. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org] On Behalf Of ej.vdhee@quicknet.nl Sent: 27 September 2006 09:06 To: basia@smoe.org Subject: Re: Fwd: OT: What Ive been listening to... > > 9.
