I am glad that it moved him. Once again the power of music... Today is my birthday and yesterday Lonnie was told he would be let go from the Michelin help desk a week from Friday. He woke at 3:30 worried. I woke knowing that this day would be kinda bad because of his news yesterday. I check email. I am just smiling away at the song thinking... this day WILL NOT be bad. I love the trumpet part and still love the memory of Kevin and Lonnie "talkin' trumpet." Thanks Leslie and Danny. Just a pure thanks... Thelma - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie O." Thelma Danny did all the work-- I just pressed a couple buttons. ;-) I too am really thrilled that he and Basia were interested in sharing these with us. I hope this setback will lead to something better for Lonnie. So often it's meant to be when these things happen, because something better is coming. At least that's how it's been for me so far. I hope he's feeling less nervous. And I hope you guys could make the best of your birthday without this shadow clouding it. (hug) This song rings in the Time and Tide demos so we are gonna meet up with some old riends in their first versions! - -- Leslie O. www.basiaweb.com / www.gruentransfer.com "To keep in touch All you need is love and music To keep you satisfied please use it Gotta let the love and music take you there." --Incognito, "We Got Music" . . . Crap, I forgot to ask Danny who that is, though I think it's safe to assume Kevin. The way the solo is performed is similar to the way the live performance of this song incorporated horn solos, too. Anyway... I really like the last part of the song after the break, again because the trumpet work is really good. It's impressive how close to finished the song is, and you guys are going to notice the same with the other T&T demos. Basia sounds pretty agressive vocally which I love-- she's growly and sassy. It was also intriging to hear a older Matt Bianco song where Basia was lead and Mark was backup-- hmmm! It's long been said that the songs Basia and Danny co-wrote for MB were rejected because of musical difference but I have a hard time buying that, as this song is such a logical progression of the early Matt Bianco sound and isn't such a radical departure. Granted, we're all familiar with the song in it's other guise, but with the Matt Bianco vocal style and thematic similarity in the lyric (spy metaphors and murderous intrigue in the area of love), it ain't that different, yo. I'm one of the minority here that really likes Mark Reilly, but it's safe to say that some of his lyrics in the past have been pretty painful, and this ranks among the most teeth-grating of them. In the end, both songs became far better for this one being binned- "Run for Cover" is a burst of energy and excitement and has some great lines ("There's another world inside my heart/it's not impossible to turn it inside out") and the eventual Matt Bianco "Undercover" is far far more thought-out that I think Mark did here, far better and more interesting lyrics that paint a better short story than he was attempting in the first version. Blah, blah, blah blah...
