The capstan pincher assembly drags the tape across the tape head at a consistent speed and particles of tape and other debris in the tape path can cause it to run slower. Ever heard of wow and flutter measurements?. Good luck.........Tom On the other hand, I also have the same kind of experience as you did, but it's not the cassettes nor the batteries. It's the old walkman that makes Basia's and Laura Fygi's voices sound slower and heavier! It seems that I need a new walkman - or a pocket mp3 player.... :-) Czesc, Desianto F. Subject: Re: clean your heads I clean the head, roller, & capstan regularly but it does not solve the problem. It seems that the mechanical or electrical things inside have gone wrong. I tried to fix this but to my surprise, there is no bolt at all, that makes me confused, how to open the case without damaging it. - ---- Czesc, Desianto F.
