["Lonnie Gunter" ] Re: A couple of things... ["Desianto F. The other band was named "Huh!?". We played Gen X, Bowie, Joe Jackson's "Got the time", Television, 999, The Jam, Costello, even killed a couple Sex Pistols songs. this was back in '79 - '80. Having heard the only recording of these two party bands recently I've found that most guitarist acquire most of their talents within the first five years or so. I am mostly talking about the dexterity of playing not necessarily the talents of Listening and more complex theory practices. Would anyone agree with that? I've been at it since 1975, jezzzzz I should be famous by now! (LOL) Tom, Guitarist, Basser, bongoist and I do want to take up the bagpipe to drive everyone nuts. bye. - -------------------------------------------------------- It is from the famous soliloquy in Hamlet. You know, the "To be, or not to be- that is the question" part. To sleep- perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub! For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us pause. There's the respect That makes calamity of so long life. - --------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2005 10:34:36 -0400 From: "Lonnie Gunter" Subject: Re: A couple of things... Thanks Jeff and Tom... I am officially dumb.... I think it is interesting that there are lines in there that are very familiar to me however I was looking for something my Mom would say. In September I will become a grandma for the first time and I was telling my son to plan to enjoy every stage of their childs life, even the muling and puking. "At first, the infant, Muling and puking ..." Thanks for reply but I must admit I would have felt better if at least one of you had not known where "mortal coil" had come from. Hey, did Shakespeare get it from someone else? My Dad once told me that he got an award for a slogan he once submitted in the airforce. PRIDE Personal Responsibility In Daily Efforts I walked into my childs middle school 50 years later and saw a poster with that printed on it and thought "My Dad wrote that." but did he? I have often though that I think thoughts that no one else has ever thought. On that thought... I am off to can tomatoes and take pictures for a friend. The phrase mortal coil reminds me to Third Time Lucky. Third Time Lucky reminds me to its whistling fillers. BTW, I composed the opening whistling sound to a midi file and converted it into a ringtone for my cell-phone. Maybe it is one of a kind, at least in Indonesia. It is also an effective wake-up alarm too since, IMHO, its frequency is able to penetrate my sub-conscience world quickly, even in my deep sleep. ---- Czesc, Desianto F.
