But first, I have to thank Steve O'Hearn and Thelma for sending me some interesting stuff. I really appreciate them. To Steve, I use the pictures on the desktop screen; they're just great! I didn't go into the inbox for weeks, so I couldn't manage to reply ASAP. Well, I had to do many things recently, travelling, attending some events including some weddings, taking photos, discussing some stuff with people from Suzuki 4WD club, decorating, visiting my friend who got a road accident, and "playing the kite" with that Lady in Red; "playing the kite" is an informal Javanese term for maintaining something (usually a relationship) in an elegant and wise way. Like playing kite, sometimes you have to pull the string, sometimes you have to let it go, just to keep the kite in control. And the result? So far so good. But I have to be more patient, keep praying and working, because it's not a one night process. Now for Basia's songs which are underrated. Wheew!!!! It's a tough decision since I like, even love, almost all of them. Let's see; I love: Time and Tide, Promises, New Day For You, Astrud, Miles Away, Best Friends, Brave New Hope, Baby You're Mine (the one that attracted my attention to Basia for the first time), Ordinary People, Rewards, Copernicus, Not An Angel, Take Him Back Rachel, Forgive And Forget, Come To Heaven, Drunk On Love, Third Time Lucky, Yearning, An Olive Tree, Perfect Mother, Simple Pleasures, Prayer of a Happy Houswife, all songs in BOB, Clear Horizon, Waters of March, Go For You, Angels Blush, - and if Matt's Mood is counted - Ordinary Day, La Luna, Say The Words, and Ronnie's Samba. And my answers: Perfect Mother, Prayer of a Happy Houswife, Forgive And Forget, Come To Heaven, and Go For You. OK, you can pick one among them, which is the most underrated Basia's song. Maybe you'll find the same answers as I do, maybe you won't. It's a matter of preferences. That's all from me. It's nice to see you all again! Czesc, Desianto F. W. (Still confused with extracting the lyrics from, and singing: Dindi, You Do Something To Me, and Something About Him - that later will be changed to Something About You) ================================================= - --- "Leslie O." wrote: > > sheeesh, nothing going on over here, is there!? ;-) > > Fine then, I'll light a fire under your collective > rear ends: you know how everyone always goes for the > same batch of songs: Cruising for Bruising, Time and > Tide, New Day for You, Promises blahblahblah... but so > many awesome songs get completely overlooked. Subject: Re: Underrated Well, here are mine. - --"Ordinary People," by far. I love LWNY and so do a lot of you ;-) but let's be honest: some of those songs are very much from 1990. OP however transcends time and space. It's one of the most authentic Latin songs they've really had, and it's all-over awesome lyrically and musically. Damn. And the end just is perfect. - --"Masquerade." While a B-side, I always thought-- even then, especially then-- that it would have *killed* if it had been a single. The words are garbly and the story kind of has minimal impact, but the way the song is contructed is awesome. And the Kevin Robinson horns are the shiz. Kind of random stylistically (one wouldnt expect Basia and Danny to attempt a hip-hop beat) but often overlooked. - --"Simple Pleasures." Should have been huge as well. Apart from that, it's just so... sensual? I dunno quite how to put it. I find myself swooning when I hear it, even eleven years later. Perhaps its the blatent open love letter aspect to it, i dunno. I think in fairness it's ridiculous how underrated TSI is, as a whole. Except for that last track ;-) - -- Leslie O.
