I think that all of us would agree that ALL of Basia's songs are under-appreciated and underrated. Most people just don't like to broaden their scope of musical tastes to include artists that defy easy categorization. keeping that in mind, I would have to vote for "Run For Cover". Followed closely by "The Prayer Of A Happy Housewife". Seriously. For me, one that always sticks with me is Yearning. But there's also Miles Away, An Olive Tree, Drunk On Love, Copernicus.......and on and on....... I'll stick with Yearning as the one that stands out though. Barry "Do not go where the path may lead. I feel that Yearning is a truly great song - very moving, a "serious" song. At least it had a bit of life, being that it was recorder on BOB. The other song I'd pick is Miles Away. I've always associated it with a nice peaceful sunny Sunday morning, the kind of day where you wake up late, spend the morning reading the paper, etc. Jim P. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jul 2005 09:33:19 -0500 From: "Barry" Subject: Re: Wake up!: Underrated songs There's one more besides Yearning. Simple Pleasures. Those two are highly underrated. All of her songs are in the grand scheme of things, but those two top the list. Barry "Do not go where the path may lead. When I first started listening to LWNY, "Best Friends" is what jumped out at me first (of the songs I was not already familiar), but it was "Ordinary People" that took over the number one spot for me. It is driving and passionate. I love it! Real Basiaholics know of the fantastic consistency and depth of her recordings and are able to look beyond just the single releases for the gems that lie there and I think that they would have it right up there with T+T as maybe her greatest track (so far) :-) Phil. >-- Original Message -- >From: "Barry" >To: >Subject: Re: Wake up!: Underrated songs >Date: Sat, 16 Jul 2005 09:33:19 -0500 >Reply-To: basia@smoe.org > > > >There's one more besides Yearning. > >Simple Pleasures. > >Those two are highly underrated.
