"The Faves": 1. "Harlem Shuffle" by the Fabulous Flippers(local show band out of Lawrence KS) 2. "Happy Together" by the Turtles 3. "Good Lovin" The Rascals 4. "Gimme Some Lovin'" Spencer Davis Group(with a really young Stevie Winwood singing lead) 5. "Light My Fire" The Doors ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Jun 2005 13:09:55 +0100 From: "49ersphil" <49ersphil@tiscali.co.uk> Subject: RE: Dr. Who 2005 info - Off-Topic I don't know if this is old news or not, but I remember reading recently that Dr. Who's latest assistant (played by teen popstar Billie Piper) is also departing the show. Here is a link with the details; http://www.sky.com/showbiz/article/0,,50001-1182855,00.html I am not a devotee of the show and have not watched it since the Jon Pertwee days, but have been impressed by the reviews that the new series has gotten and am considering "coming back" to it. It's such a pity that the leading characters have, for whatever reasons, abandoned the show so soon after getting a career boost from it. >-- Original Message -- >Date: Sat, 04 Jun 2005 17:13:57 -0700 >Subject: Dr. Who 2005 info - Off-Topic >From: Stephen Ylvisaker >To: "basia@smoe.org" >Reply-To: basia@smoe.org > > > >I went to the Usenet group alt.drwho and learned something about this new >Dr. Who. > >After being absent since 1989, the BBC (in general, not remembering >specifics) decided to re-activate the series >[http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4326005.stm]. >Chris Eccleston wrote the producers and asked to play the Doctor, the 9th. >After the first season was in the "can," Eccleston has quit >[http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4395849.stm]. >David Tennant has been named as the 10th Doctor >[http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4396961.stm]. > >I have found 10 episodes of the Eccleston Dr. Who at Limewire, a P2P >service, by searching for "Doctor Who 2005". > > >-- >Stephen Ylvisaker >greyfell@gns2000.com >"Never do business with pets you don't trust." I think the Coke commercial helped. It really takes me back to the waterbed in Idaho reading Peanut comics. (74' .. But they said right after this that it was not true. I'm hoping it;s not, she makes a great companion. (Perhaps it helps that I know nothing about her music career!) Chris Eccleston I guess was committed to something else, which is why he couldn't continue. Or so I'm told. (this isn't a topic I go spelunking for ;-) ) BTW-- Swing Out Sister's live show kicks some ass. Go see it if you can. - -- Leslie O. "Pop music in twenty years! So I made one. It's all my opinion so don't laugh at the pompous title, "the REAL best of Basia as chosen by BasiaWeb.com"-- it's meant to entice casual iTunes people. Not for the hardcore necessarily! Think of all the dudes and dudettes you met and overheard at the shows this year who only knew Promises and Cruising For Bruising and Time and Tide. I had to help them! LOL To this end, I concentrated on songs where Basia sings lead vocal, at the sad omission of some of my fave MB songs. rationale is on the frontpage of BasiaWeb (which got all tweakified, B-Web is officially entering its second phase of construction. stay tuned!) Your best bet in getting there is to search for Basia, then select the most recent iMixes under her subhead. It's worth noting that Miles Away is now the most downloaded track, as Apple included it on an iTunes Essentials list called 'Dinner Party.' "Time and Tide" is featured on another iTunes Essentials list called "Smooth Jazz" (ack!) - -- Leslie O. "Pop music in twenty years!
