Mark Parnell mentioned that he'd had a gig with an Irish singer/songwriter (who's up and coming, and we should watch for) where they did three different takes (one without drums) to be used during the closing credits of Julia Roberts' film "Closer." He hasn't seen the film (nor have I), but he's heard that you can hear his drumming. He's not sure, but he said, "If you hear drums, that's me." BTW, Leslie, where were you seated Sunday? Oh my goodness. Don't feel bad about the preconceived thing, even the group was surprised. Basia said she pictured me as older! Often, I get a kick out of this. I've always been the last person people suspect. One time I got into a very long and involved conversation about '70s jazz-funk with a man who was about 50 and black. He said he didn't think he'd be having the conversation with a 25-year old white girl with blue hair (all at the time!). It was fun. In LA I had a couple people ask me how I could have remembered Basia the first time around. I just went, yeah I was young, whatever. LOL Between us was > an elegant lady and her > handsome black gentleman. He was there for her, but > he finally got into the > show by the last encore. Same dealyo in LA-- the guy next to me with his wife was not happy at the beginning (when O'2L was out). He was grumbly, and there was a seat snafu that I, trying to be helpful, inadvertently made worse. But I looked over toward the end of the show and he was gettin' down. I love that! I didn't see the crowd at Cupertino, did notice it was a lot older than I thought it would be as I hustled to my seat. But my friend was watching and he said they were very into it. The crowd in LA was fantastic-- at first confused and tentative but it didn't take long for them to freak out. Love it! - -- Leslie O. The Flint was just the right sized venue. I, too, thought, "Gosh, they're old." Then I remembered I am getting there, too; I just don't usually think of myself as 48. So, there were a lot of people there who fell in love with Basia while in their early to mid 30's, and now their long years of devotion have paid off, but it's also showing. - ---- Stephen Ylvisaker greyfell@gns2000.com "...decide...whether or not the goal is worth the risks involved.
