The server and bandwidth for this list, since it's inception, have been bought and paid for out of his pocket. smoe.org=Jeff Wasilko. He has upgraded the servers out of his own pocket and pays for a T1 line. He does all of the h/w maintenance and sysadmin for this and many other lists. He's the unsung and underappreciated hero. Without Jeff, there would be no basia@smoe.org and many other free artist/band based lists. Most Internet user_lists almost always will be asking for donations and that has never happenned here. Think about that. Take a few minutes and visit: http://www.smoe.org/ You will see that there are over 90 other lists hosted by Jeff's servers. This list is just one little piece of what he does. I am sure that if you took a few minutes and thanked him or sent him a check to support the costs associated with running it all, he'd appreciate it. It's a labor of love of music for him but it's very rare that his name ever pops up on this list. I was happy to see that Leslie gives thanks to Jeff and Diane F. and some others on her home page. Also let's not forget the Basia-faithful fans who started the conversations on smoe.org Ben, Denis, Larry L., Phil, Diane F. (our old Peter White connection) and *even* Roach (despite the ill-fated auction of Basia merchandise) and plus all the new folks who have kept this group fresh and lively discussions going to this day: Thelma, Bill and especially Desianto whose tales have given me many smiles. And a word of thanks to those who created the first websites to continue the Basia information sharing with Ben Combee establishing *basia.techwood.org*; Kevin Segura starting *Basia: The International Discography* (which I modestly was pleased to assist with from 1998-2002 or so technically and with web design) and so many other folks who only stopped their homages and updates to Basia/Danny due to other life commitments. What Leslie has thankfully done is put a new fresh face and has moved Basia-dom ahead...and has the willingness and energy to update the site, but we do need to remember all those who came before and had laid the groundwork for her to pick up and continue the momentum -- someday even Leslie may consider needing someone else to take over for her... so the torch may be passed again... one never knows. - -- Beverly Okin-Larkin one of the "old" smoe.org crew bcouil@comcast.net wrote: >With all due respect to Leslie, who has done an exceptional job on the site, the person who really deserves tickets would be Jeff Wasilko. It's like that scene in Indiana Jones with the old guy in the crypt with the Holy Grail. Think of all the times-- even as recently as two years ago-- that this board and these sites had almost died off just from people moving on. It's pretty amazing really that we're still here.
