I must say this is a terrible way to run a tour. I just called the Westbury music fair yesterday and they said no, the show is still on. Why couldn't they get the word out sooner? You can expect ticket holders to check websites of the artist to confirm. For all we knew it could have been back on. Now what do we do if we are physically holding tickets? I am honestly so mad I am not sure I want to see her now. Very unprofessional. She should have planned ahead better with the visas. This tour has been on for over 2-3 months. Someone really dropped the ball on this one and I am not sure what the impact will now be with her credibility. denis ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Mar 2005 10:22:13 -0500 From: "Joe Palcher" Subject: Re: Westbury As far as I know, only Richard and I are the only Basialisters that are going to the Cleveland show, April 10th. The venue had been hoping up until the "deadline" hour of this afternoon that at least their theatre would still be on schedule -- the folks there are understandably disappointed as they now have to refund for TWO SOLD-OUT shows, which adds up to nearly $15,000 lost revenue in ticket/food/drink sales that night. As for me, I will go ahead and visit NYC with Thelma, though the sole purpose of my trip was to see Matt Bianco.... I have to use my travel now as I personally have lost monies that were *nonrefundable* with $380 in flight costs, $110 hotel, $40 tickets... all I saved was not buying dinner at Joe's Pub now. We will make the best of this and enjoy "Regis & Kelly" and see the NYC sights and all.... but it ain't what I really wanted to do. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I do know this was not probably something in the band's control -- and yet I cautiously (almost pessimistically) bought my tickets for the San Antonio show next month - which cost me well over $150 for two seats. So, let's hope the promoter is able to let the band make good on its promise to fulfill the now truncated tour. Will I try again for NYC? Probably not. This was a total "once in a lifetime" chance to me... having enough $$ to try (from a one-time bonus I got at work), the time in my busy work schedule to go and the support of my family -- now both my work and home family think I'm nuts to spend money again to go and try to see them as it is. Like you Denis I am also worried about their creditability - the folks at Joe's Pub were very nice and said this happens infrequently, in fact up until my calling them at 5:00 p.m. EST they were STILL expecting Matt Bianco to arrive as planned. They knew about the problems but were (as we were I reckon) that it would all be ironed out and the shows would go on as planned. But yes this is a poor start for things and I am certain that Mark, Basia and Danny are more aware of it than we are. To show yet another problem: my local Best Buy is listing "Matt's Mood" as not releasing until 3/8/05 -- so communication SNAFU's galore IMHO. I hope this is a not a sign of how things continue for them trying to mount this concert tour in the US. Of to NYC and will enjoy meeting Thelma on Monday, wish us well!!! - -- Beverly Okin-Larkin Samurai27@aol.com wrote: >Bumber bumber. I must say this is a terrible way to run a tour. "No one" is more disappointed than I am. I told Beverly that as long as I have my free agency that I don't choose to be angry. I feel things very deeply and it helped me to realize what a normally cheerful person I am. My funny family would say "Eore" slowly to me as I would answer their questions earlier today. There was a definite downer in my tone. But... my sister in Florida said something that made me laugh and I told her that I did not expect to laugh again until April or May. We both laughed together and I came back around at that point. My biggest regret is the lost chance to be ONE foot away from her and to have the opportunity in such a small venue to give her a letter I have written and also some random things that Desianto has written that are dear to me. (Including an email from a Disney channel music director fan in Australia who thinks Desianto is Basia) Desianto did not ask me to give her anything... I was going to tell him after I did it. I already have tickets for Atlanta and look forward to that show. Some day I will tell my husband that I bought them. Now is not a good time. We have had some tough financial times for a few years now. Beverly and I will make lemonade in New York. I am still taking wheat bread to Kevin who works at Joe's Pub. I am sure this is hard on them too. After watching my son in a basketball game this afternoon I rode home alone listening to Basia sing songs of gratitude. I like gratitude... it makes one happy.
