Have you ever noticed how much "Angels Blush" and "Run For Cover" sound very similar at the start? This is just one of those odd things I picked up on tonight. Maybe it's just me too, I'm odd too after all. I still have all fingers and toes crossed hoping for a tour stop near enough for me to go. To see her perform live would be divine, to get to meet her would be a dream come true. I would love to be able to thank her for her wonderful gifts. Of course there would be no way I could accurately describe what her music has done for me. It pulls me out of bad moods, it calms me when I'm stressed, it gets me going when I need a boost. It fills me with such wonderful emotions, gives me such a positive attitude, and keeps me hopeful for the future. There's so much more too, that's just the tip of the iceberg. I would do anything to get that chance, but I'll probably be lucky just to see her perform. The "smooth jazz" station we have here has probably never heard of her, and although I remain hopeful, I doubt a St. Louis stop will happen. I'll be so glad to get out of this place. It's a nice city, I do like a lot about it, but we miss out on a lot because it's so conservative and encapsulated (for lack of a better word). And now, back to your regularly scheduled insanity. I even listen to the MB CD produced by Emilio on occasion. And yes, I remember Dirk's objections. I don't remember Basia ever playing Jacksonville. The city puts on a jazz festival every spring - this year it's April 7-10, and I've been after them to book MB. The performers are more popular type jazz folks such as George Benson, Bela Fleck, Diane Schurr, etc. so MB should fit right in. The road may be flat, rather straight and snow-free, but it's still I-4 and filled with sink holes. un abrazo, juan *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 2/13/2005 at 9:47 PM pineking@gwi.net wrote: >C'mon, Juan, its a two hour drive for you, on straight, flat, snow-free >roads. Barry, perhaps an e-mail and a link to the Basia site to that smooth jazz station might help. Keep requesting her and ask friends to do the same. I started out as a MB fan in 1984 and to see them live would be like seeing, Led Zeppelin or Tom Jobim. Someone out there should bootleg it for us all. But I did not really say that. Wales is beautiful, green, Irish sea, lots of sheep poop, little narrow roads and my english mates said that welch women are some of the most beautiful in the world, I saw more sheep than chicks. I go there to fly remote controlled sailplanes in big winds off the slopes overlooking the sea.I suppose it is like being a surfer and going to "The big place". Carbon fiber planes in 60mph winds. Strange but very fun. Tom. That's ok, YOU go see Basia and I'll go to Wales for you. As much as I'd love to see her in concert, I'd take the trip first (I think). ;) Barry ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2005 08:28:59 -0800 (PST) From: "Leslie O." Subject: Re: Orlando Hmmmm..... 101 North/South from The City through Marin to Sonoma County. > filled with sink-hole sized pot holes, You got me there > construction debris Yeah, got that. For some reason they have been doing something bizarre to the carpool lane. I have yet to get the idea of what that is. and cars, bumper-to-bumper, > driven by glazed-eyed, delusional parents besotted > after 1000-miles of bellowing from the back seat Definitely got the former in spades-- especially when you get to Novato and suddenly go from four lanes to TWO. TWO FRIGGING LANES. Making the ride to Santa Rosa way farther than it should be. Not to mention the idiots in their Basic Marin Wheels that really need to get the hell off the phone already. But seriously, I have a dream of there being a show in Sac and in SF or somehere. This comes from me looking at the TSI tour schedule recently and noting that if I had been here eleven years ago, i could have seen shows in Concord and Sacramento. If only. Incidentally, Tomasz translated that interview and after a litte editing tomorrow I'll post it. Nothing groundshaking, but there is some nice coy dodging of the solo album question on Basia's part. My recommendation is for no one to be holding their breath. - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security.
